Service Project for the December Executive Board Meeting

As winter approaches, many individuals are lacking sufficient clothes and coats to keep themselves warm this season. So, we are calling on you all to donate winter clothes: hats, gloves, coats, scarves, and anything else you can think of.  Please bring items to the meeting. Anything helps !!

If you are not able to attend, please consider donating to your local clothing closet!

December Green Goals

As the holiday season approaches, we would like to help simplify your act of giving sustainably by focusing on wrapping paper.  Surprisingly, half the paper used in America is used to wrap consumer products. Therefore, having an alternative option is necessary to help decrease that statistic. First, always make sure to look at the labeling and choose wrapping paper made of hemp or consists of recycled content. Below are other significant suggestions that can make all the difference include:

  • AVOID buying metallic or glossy foil material wrapping paper.

  • ALWAYS reuse paper if possible, instead of buying more paper, use things lying around the house.

  • DO NOT overuse tape as it will inhibit you to save the wrapping paper for another time.

Call for Workshop Presenters
Legislative Session

Must be from a MASC member school App Deadline: 11:59 p.m, 12/31/21

MASC just completed a successful Fall Leadership Conference and we are now into major planning for the Legislative Session.  This event will hopefully be in-person, but we have contingency plans for a virtual event if needed.

MASC needs certified workshop presenters from member schools to apply to present.  The workshops have been written, so there is not as much "prep" time required.  Presenters would have to attend the in-person January 22nd training as well as the in-person February 12th event.  Please check your calendars, check with your school advisor, and apply today!  Thanks!

Hosts Needed for MASC Events
Legislative Session and Convention

MASC would like to have an "in-person" Legislative Session and Convention.  These events may look different than in past years (i.e. Convention might be a one-day event with a pre-conference virtual component instead of the overnight stay as that may not be approved by most school systems), but we are trying to move forward with safe in-person events.  Please check with your school system and consider hosting!  Please  check with your school system and consider hosting!

"The month of December has more to offer than just holiday preparations. Special days and observances can be a way to explore a variety of subjects, including awareness of health conditions, safety issues, and ways to promote a healthy lifestyle. It's a bit on the lighter side when it comes to daily observances this month. That's because there are a handful of major annual holidays this month that takes up most of December."

Here's to December - a Month of...

* Celebrating how far we have come

* Reflecting on all we have learned this year

* Knowing we are not alone if we are grieving or hurting.

* Remembering that even though there are 100 things to do, we are not wrong for needing time to rest and regroup.

* Being grateful for things both great and small.

* Believing that some of the best gifts we can give are time, empathy, and love."

Morgan Harper Nicholas

During this season of giving, let us take time to slow down and enjoy the simple things.

We wish you a holiday that sparkles with moments of love, laughter, and goodwill. May the year ahead be filled with contentment and joy.
