For the past decade, the Community Foundation of Louisville has proudly hosted our region's biggest day of online giving, Give for Good Louisville, inspiring more than 137,300 people to invest $50.6 million into local organizations like us. This day allows for us to not only gain exposure in our community but also gives us the opportunity to receive large cash prizes. Below are some examples of prizes we could win:

  • Organizations that receive the first online donation at 12:00 a.m. (ET) on September 14, 2023, will win $1,000.

  • Local philanthropist and champion of Kentuckiana nonprofit leaders, William O. Alden Jr., is offering a $34,000 proportionate match capped at 10% to organizations based in Clark, Floyd, and Harrison counties.

  • The Caesars Foundation of Floyd County is offering a $20,000 proportionate match capped at 10% to organizations based in Floyd County.

  • Thanks to Churchill Downs, ten donors who give within a two-minute time period (TBA) will receive either a $20,000, $10,000, or $5,000 boost to their donation.

As the back-to-school season commences, we currently have five youth attending elementary schools in Floyd County. Join us in extending warm wishes for a joyful and safe academic year ahead. Furthermore, we've established an Amazon wish list aimed at providing essential educational resources to support these young minds within our shelter. Your generous contributions can make a significant difference in their educational journey.

Indiana's Housing & Community Development Authority's (IHCDA) Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) is a program of the State of Indiana that provides $2.5 million tax credits annually to non-profit organizations like us, for distribution as a fundraising tool. The program was created by Indiana Code 6-3.1-9. NAP credits are worth 50% of the value of a donation/contribution made to us by you. This means that a $200 donation to us nets a $100 tax credit for you. If you would like to know more or donate and receive a tax credit, click the learn more button below.

$20,000 Gym Update for August

Our journey towards completing our gym renovations has taken another stride forward. In the past month, we successfully concluded the $3,000 paint job, infusing new vibrancy into our gym walls. As we look ahead to the upcoming month, an eagerly anticipated transformation awaits our gym floor, with a surprise concealed beneath a fresh layer of epoxy. Our heartfelt appreciation goes out once again to The Caesars Foundation of Floyd County, as well as to our gracious donors whose invaluable contributions have propelled this project to its current success.

Service Spotlight

Children who are placed in our Emergency Shelter Care are those abruptly removed from home because of abuse or neglect, those with excessive trauma, those who have run away from home, those transitioning from more restrictive placement, and those who are not able to be adequately supervised by parents or guardian and have become involved with the juvenile justice system.  Open Door offers groups and counseling in a trauma-informed environment. Both males and females can be served, and referrals can be taken from any Indiana county Department of Child Services or Juvenile Probation office.
