About the Event

Are you looking to diversify your farming enterprise, are you a new entrant looking for land or do you have underutilised land that needs managing? This course can help you find the right people, the right business model and an agreement that works for both parties.

At FarmED we have multiple successful joint ventures including livestock, vegetable production and beekeeping. We benefit from the diversity that it brings to the farm, the produce that we can use in our cafe and a market for our other produce. They benefit from having access to land to run their business from and shared resources like machinery and buildings.

There will be the chance to go out on the farm and meet the people who run the joint ventures here.  You will get the chance to visit the micro dairy with Hallam or the Kitchen Garden with Emma.

Alison Rickett from 3Keel and formerly Fresh Start Land Enterprise will get us to scrutinise our own motivations, assets and requirements and help us look at our relationship with risk to help us understand what kind of match might be right for us. Participants will get access to the Business Models to Unlock Future Farming Potential handbook as a guide to help you beyond this course.

Tom Cackett from Savills specialises in providing food and farming advice to the agricultural sector throughout the South of England. He will be looking at the legal risks and tax implications of various business entities that can be used to form land-partnership agreements. He has particular expertise in organic farming, regenerative farming, environmental stewardship, re-wilding, direct retailing and deer farming. Tom is dual qualified and therefore able to provide both farming and estate management advice.

You will also get the chance to meet Tim May from Kingsclere Estate and hear about his work with new entrants, enterprise development and the annual ‘Pitch Up’ competition he runs to find new business partners.

You will leave with tools and knowledge to help find the right match of people and business model. There will also be time for networking over coffee and lunch from the FarmED kitchen (all included in the ticket price). Please take a look at the agenda for more details about the day.

This event is ideal for farmers and landowners seeking new people and enterprises, as well as new entrants looking for an opportunity. Advisors and facilitators would find this event useful too.

Limited Early Bird Tickets are available until 11th September.
