Water's Eye will be coming out in July. This is the first book in a new series, Elements Openings, but carrying on the storyline from The Doors of Despair. For those not familiar with the Doors of Despair, or only starting out in it, much of the story is explained along the way, enough so that you can jump right in. I hope you enjoy it. With Maya and her friends stuck on Earth, they must adjust to their new lives there. For Maya, that includes adjusting to the events of her past, and the tragedies that she had to face. What she had to go through. Sometimes, such experiences create demons all their own. But when a new girl moves into town, she has an unusual effect on Maya, one that even she can't quite understand just yet. |

The second book in Elements Openings, Fire's Tongue, is coming along nicely. I wasn't entirely sure what I was going to be doing with the main character, Megana, but I think I've started to get her voice down. I have a rough outline for the first half of the book, before Megana joins up with the rest of the group from the previous books. That's enough to properly introduce the character to the readers before jumping into the main plot of the series. The one problem that I've had with this book so far was starting a new relationship, in this same world, without it feeling like a rehash of Mountain Princess. These are two different women, who have known each other longer, but it feels like the same roadblocks that they've seen. Same sex coupling is virtually unheard of in this world, and it's not just taboo, it's generally unthinkable. I'm just trying to come up with something fresh for these two. For once, I'll be going back during my first draft to tackle this subject, trying to fill out that portion of the plot a little. |

For those interested, the second draft of Cary Simms: The Fairy Mushroom Forest is available on my Royal Road page, in its entirety. It can be found here. As I've said before, this is my firt foray into middle grade books, so I'd appreciate some feedback on it. So far, the feedback I've gotten is good. |

Hi there. I know, people don't usually hear from me with... well, this hat. But, hey, I do make all the covers this way. In fact, all the book covers for this year's books are available on our website now. I hope you like them. For those of you that don't know, I also make some nice book trailers. They're all available on our YouTube channel here. Starting with Water's Eye, though, I'll be trying to put together a new trailer as part of the final signoff of the books. The trailer for Water's Eye is all ready. However, as it isn't slated for release until July, I'll be releasing the trailer at about the same time. Look for it on our YouTube channel, Twitter, Instagram, and possibly the newsletter come July. |

My first event of the year was Jersey Pride. A lot of my current subscription base came from people that swung by, so welcome new readers. If you're getting this, that means I read your handwriting correctly (there were 2 email addresses that I just couldn't figure out). It was all around my most successful event yet, eclipsing my previous two combined. While the placement of my booth wasn't ideal (the introverted author trying to peddle her books across from a very loud tent, in more ways than one), I feel that once the event got in full swing the traffic through my booth was amazing. I sold out of a lot more of my books than I was expecting. In fact, the stock I had ordered this year was expected to last all three events. Oh, how foolish I was to think that. I've already ordered more books for this year, and will be making sure to have more stock than I could possibly need for next year. And a cart. Definitely need a cart. My arms are still sore from the five trips between the car and the both... each way. |
