A Message from our CEO

Welcome to the first Disability Assist newsletter!

Previously known as Centre for Independent Living Kent (CiLK), we relaunched the charity earlier this month with a new name and logo.  We hope you love our new look as much as we do and welcome your feedback so please get in touch.  You can read more about our rebrand on our brand-new blog.

Our Rebrand

What Can We Help You With?

Disability Assist is a charity which supports adults with disabilities and long-term health conditions in Kent to live more independently. This means having the right support in place and being in control to live the life you choose.

We can help with:

  • Advocacy
  • Help with claiming benefits
  • Peer support
  • Information, advice and guidance on anything to do with independent living
  • And much more!

Contact us to find out more about how we can help you or someone you know.

Disability Assist was recently awarded a key contract by Kent County Council to deliver Physical Disability Wellbeing services across the county. For more information about what this means and how we could help you, please have a look at our blog post.

Are you in Medway and looking for some help to figure out what you want to do next?  Whether it's finding a new hobby or interest, volunteering or finding a new job, we can help you discover your next step.  Click below for further information.

Medway Together

Disability Assist recently voiced our concerns to Kent County Council as part of their public consultation on bus funding reductions, including the Kent Karrier service that is vital to so many disabled people.  The consultation period has now ended but we will share the results of this once available.

We were sad to hear of the recent closures of Citizens Rights for Older People (CROP) and Disability Information Services Kent (DISK). However, we would like to reassure you that you can contact Disability Assist should you require any information, advice and guidance or benefits support.
