Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the heathen; I will be exalted in the earth. -Psalms 46:10 KJV |

Greetings to our church and community. We bring you hope and joy from our Lord Jesus Christ. We understand the impact that COVID-19 has had on our nation, causing many families to be without necessities. The New Community Church desires to meet the needs of the community by providing not only spiritual support, but also meeting its physical demands. We are hoping to provide a regular distribution of food and other non-perishable items shortly. We encourage everyone to continue to stay safe during this time! "The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever." Psalms 121:8 Pastor Oshaine Wynter |

As the church plans a soft open on May 30, 2020, we are following recommendations of the CDC: - Avoid close contact.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Put distance between yourself and other people. Remember that some people without symptoms may be able to spread virus.
- Keeping distance from others is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.

Fresh Thyme by Tara Williams Sheltering in place has been a blessing as we spend more quality time with God, our families and ourselves. It has also been a challenge, albeit a welcomed one, for the same reasons. While we are thankful to have safe, comfortable places to ride out this crisis, it can sometimes be difficult to stay upbeat. Remember that small things can make big impacts. Here are a few of the things I do to brighten my days and savor the little joys of everyday living. - Make the bed every morning. Your space will feel more put together, and so will you, even if you have piles in every other corner. There is nothing like a freshly made bed for encouraging a power nap between work calls, video meetings or school lessons. Embrace the decorative pillow!
- Have fun with food. Elevate an old recipe or a staple side dish by adding a spice or an aromatic that you don’t normally use. Try curry in your fried tofu or a touch of turmeric and garlic in your rice. Redress roasted red potatoes by swapping in sweet potatoes for your red skins. Take a tip from burrito bars and add a splash of lime and fresh chopped cilantro to your rice. Complement traditional flavors with something new. So many choices…and now you have time!
- Break out the ‘nicer’ dishes, glassware and flatware for breakfast, lunch and dinner at least once a week. Increase the WOW! factor by adding edible garnishes to your dish or your drink (even if it’s water) like super-thin slices of citrus fruit, berries or cucumber. Sprigs of fresh mint, cilantro, parsley and leafy celery tops make lovely garnishes as well.
- Pick up a bouquet or two of flowers next time you brave the streets and stop by the grocers for fresh veggies, milk and cheese. If you don’t have vases, use small bowls, old jars or water bottles. Use pebbles or glass beads to weight the bottoms of light containers or to stabilize stems while arranging. Create cheery arrangements or single-stemmed statement pieces and place them around your home to add bright spots of color and fun to every room.
While I hope you find these as uplifting as I do, I encourage you to find what takes you to those happy spaces in your heart and head then magnify them in little ways. |

Early April I was diagnosed with Covid ‘19. The virus caused great pain in my joints, difficulty breathing, fever, back pain, loss of appetite, headache and I had no sense of smell or taste. My Doctor recommend to me to come in to get tested and advised me to stay home for 22 days for home isolation. However, without my knowledge during my home isolation I became aware of the fact my co- workers learned that I tested positive. As a result, I was apprehensive about returning to work. When I returned to work, I was pleasantly surprised to see flowers, balloons, inspirational notes, and candy on my desk. While I was sick, the church prayed for me every during the 40 days of prayer and I felt the Holy spirit touch me. God healed me and even though this illness occurred unexpectedly, God still prevailed in my life. Hallelujah! -Sister Michelle Marshall |
