If You Don't Think Your Vote Matters - You are WRONG! |

Buncombe County and America are at a crossroads - We can stay with the status quo, or we can say ENOUGH! We can pine over the good old days, or we can say ENOUGH! We can sit at home and complain, or we can say ENOUGH! We can lunch with friends and lament, or we can say ENOUGH! We can wish that things were different, or we can say ENOUGH! We are no longer deciding between Republican ideals or moderate Democrat concepts. We can either stay the current course and give up, or we can decide to step it up and fight for the Buncombe County and the America that we love. What does it mean to say ENOUGH? It means that we can no longer sit back and wait. No one is going to step in and fix things for us. We must personally engage. At the very least we must get out and VOTE. We must speak up and encourage and help others to get out and vote. We must help elect more like-minded candidates. If we all step it up, we have a chance. If we don't all step it up, we already see where Buncombe County and America is heading. Many elections are won by the narrowest margin of votes. JFK beat Nixon by a slim margin of just one fifth of one percent of the popular vote. Grover Cleveland beat James Blaine by less than 1% (a mere .7%). Ask Rick Green if every vote counts - he won his state legislature seat by just 36 votes! Every vote counts. Every voice counts. Every action counts. Vote early. Take like-minded friends to vote. There are many other ways that you can help. Volunteer - there are numerous opportunities to "do" what you do best. You can make a difference for Buncombe County and for America. We need your help. Can we count on you? Call (828-253-5800) or fill out a volunteer form by clicking the link below. |

How Much Do You Know about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.? |
|
|
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a very important figure in American history. We acknowledge his significant contribution to America with a federal holiday each January in recognition of his birth and contribution to civil rights. Did you know that it is very rare to name a federal holiday for an individual? President Washington's Day was changed to President's Day. At present, the only other federal holiday named for an individual is Columbus Day - and that occurred after MLK was given this honor.
Although we all know that MLK is an important figure that helped shape America, how much do you really know about this iconic civil rights leader? Take this short quiz to test your knowledge. Quiz content from PragerU |
