Dear friends,
This August 19 we are delighted to welcome two esteemed musicians and Indiana University faculty members to Brown County: violinist Mark Kaplan and cellist Peter Stumpf will be joining our artistic director Andreas Ioannides for an evening of thrilling music for Piano Trio.
Mark Kaplan has established himself as one of the leading violinists of his generation. As a soloist he has performed with nearly every major American orchestra, including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestras, the Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestras, the Chicago and National Symphony Orchestras.
Former principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and associate principal of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Peter Stumpf shares Mark's passion for chamber music, having collaborated with some of the greatest musicians on the international stage, including Mitsuko Uchida, Andras Schiff, the Emerson and Guarneri Quartets.
Andreas Ioannides first met Mark and Peter during his doctoral studies at Indiana University. He is now residing in Ireland, where he is a Lecturer in Piano at the Cork School of Music. Andreas will also be performing on August 18 with the Lincoln String Quartet; here is what he had to say about these two events:
"I can't wait to share the stage with some of America's finest musicians! I'm honored to be performing the hyper-emotional Franck quintet on August 18 with members from the Chicago Symphony, including its principal cellist. On August 19 I'll be joining IU faculty Mark Kaplan and Peter Stumpf in the monumental Tchaikovsky trio. Please join us for two unforgettable nights of the most expressive music!" - Andreas Ioannides
The Piano Trio concert on August 19 will take place at the Nashville United Methodist Church at 7 pm and will feature trios by Mozart and Tchaikovsky.
