The Pollinator Times

Help Us Publish the Pollinator Anthology!

Please Reply by April 15

Wow. With more than 67 artists and writers submitting more than 340 pieces, we have SO much beautiful work to choose from for the published Pollinator Anthology! The next step is to obtain funding through donations and sponsorships to print at least 100 copies of an approximately 110 page soft-bound book. Proceeds from the sale of the published Pollinator Anthology will benefit Pollinator Project Rogue Valley and our work advocating for wild pollinators and our native ecology in the Rogue Valley. The anthology will include a list of all sponsors and their logos, and each sponsor will receive a shoutout on social media to thank them for helping make this project possible. We are offering these suggested sponsorship tiers and recognition gifts:

Ecosystem: $500 or more ...Same as Butterfly plus a Pollinator Swag Bag
Butterfly: $500 ....................Same as Chrysalis, plus a native plant and a feature on  back cover of the anthology
Chrysalis: $100 ....................Same as Caterpillar plus a second pack of native seeds  from PPRV’s garden
Caterpillar: $50 ...................Same as Leaf plus a pack of native seeds from PPRV’s garden

Leaf: $25 ..............................Shoutout on social media
Become a Sponsor or make a donation via our secure website here.

Stay tuned for an announcement soon about our upcoming gallery show that will continue this celebration of pollinators and our native ecology!
Follow the anthology on
Instagram and Facebook.
Please share with anyone you know who might be interested in supporting this project! See flyers below.

We are grateful to Eden Orlando and Rebeca Ramm for visioning this amazing literary arts project for the community, and inviting PPRV to be a part of it!

Thank you, readers, for your interest and support!

Plant Babies!

We learned so much during the Plant Parenthood workshop, a fun, hands-on class with Patrice Hanlon and Arti Kirch! Now we know about some of the best native plants to start from cuttings, which times of the year, and the technique for that plant species. Here is a photo album from the class, with the prize for the Best T-shirt going to Kyle Poling!

When We Slow Down, We See Amazing Things
at The Pollination Place

by Cindy Harper

As a longtime volunteer and supporter of Pollinator Project Rogue Valley, I've had the pleasure of helping create the Pollinator Count project.
Native plants were first installed on this site in early 2020, and since then, with just a little watering to get established, and in spite of the fire and high summer heat, the plants have been thriving! These aren’t just any plants. By definition native plants are adapted to where they live. So they are adapted to our hot dry summers and mild winters. And, since our native pollinators evolved with them over millions of years, they often serve the native pollinators best, especially the caterpillars of butterflies and moths that are not able to eat non-native plants. As part of our pollinator counts, I had the opportunity to... (

Pollinators' Pick

We don't talk about climate change enough. It is such a BIG topic, and it's hard to know what to do to offset the impacts we are creating to our world. Yes, planting more native, flowering trees and shrubs is a great start! But there are so many facets to consider ..... in fact, you might need a little extra 'something' to get you through this article in the The Guardian, just one of many bearing this bad and sad news. "The climate crisis interlocks with so many other maladies – poverty, racism, social unrest, inequality, the crushing of wildlife – that it can be easy to overlook how it has viciously ensnared insects. The problem also feels more intractable."
What are you doing in your garden to help offset our changing climate? Send us an email and if we get enough responses, we'll create an article for an upcoming The Pollinator Times.
