The Coral Chronicle

February the 4th 2024

Hello everyone and happy new year! You may have noticed there wasn’t a newsletter last month, but I'll be sure to make up for it now! And fill you in on all the latest news. This month I’ve some sensational things in store for you. 👀

First off: Elizabeth and I will be going live on kickstarter with a whole new enamel pin collection! Tune in on instagram, where you’ll be journeying with us into The Enchanted Grove.

But first, here is a little teaser...

The Enchanted Grove

In collaboration with Mourning Star by Ali

In a wood that you and I both know so well, there lies a grove, not known to us quite so well. At least, not in our waking lives. But in our dreams we’ve seen it many times…

The tree branches here intertwine in a canopy so dense, and yet the place is always alight with the glow of magic.

Enchanted Book - Enamel Pin

Nestled at the base of a dogwood tree, a weathered book bound in its roots. From the pages grows a cascade of fairy inkcaps, a ladybug nestled beneath their canopy. A feeling of reverence washes over you, by instinct knowing this book holds many secrets within.

Fairy - Enamel Pin

A fairy hovers over a flowerbed. She seems to ponder a moment, before diving into them as though they were a vast ocean. Resurfacing once more, she holds in her tiny hand a spring starflower. She admires it proudly, as though it were a prized catch. “Behold, a perfect star!” She proclaims, as she disappears back into the sea of blooms.

The Bug Artists Giveaway

Our bug-tastic giveaway has closed, and our winners have been drawn! Tomorrow, we’ll be announcing them on instagram.

With a Lepidoptera vinyl sticker set (mine), entomology print (Sarah) and Samia silkmoth pendant (Jasmine), this was a bug lowers giveaway for the ages. Tune in on Monday to see if you’ve won one our prizes! And if not, don’t threat, as I’ll be hosting many more giveaways yet! With wonderful artists, and more epic themes (though they’ll be plenty more mushrooms and insects too).

Packaging Upgrade

My pin packaging just got a makeover! When ordering a full secret garden set, or 6+ pins, they’ll be packed in one of these: an antiqued cotton envelope! Complete with a wax seal (made from mine & Ali's mini key design). 🗝️

I wanted something that would complement the collections ornate vibe. Whether you’re gifting, or purchasing pins for yourself, receiving your order in this packaging makes for a dreamy experience!

New Year, New Business Cards

Along with lovely new packaging, I've also designed myself some classy new business cards. 😍 My fungi specimen pattern, paired with metallic silver lettering. In the light you can see how beautifully it shines! ✨

Artist of the month - A. Duncan Carse

Carse was born in 1875 Newcastle upon Tyne to Norwegian and Scottish parents. Though known for many artistic accolades, some of his most notable work includes illustrations for Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairytales (1912 edition).

Just looking at his work, need I really say more? Carse is undoubtedly one of my favourite illustrators. His decadent details, delicate watercolours, and ability to weave worlds rivets me beyond reason. Particularly, I am captivated by his illustrations from Andersen’s The Little Mermaid. From the day I first saw them, they have haunted my mind.

Growing Daylight

Anyone who knows me in real life will tell you: she takes bird seed with her EVERYWHERE! Cat treats too, for the corvids and foxes. 🐦‍⬛ Below are some birds I like to feed.

Whilst I have a murder of crows  that will flock to me on the heath, this little guy also likes to SCREAM when he sees me in the graveyard. I leave some snacks out for him on one of the tombs below. He’ll make sure I’ve walked a little distance before floating on down.

Thanks for sticking around guys. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season. I'll be checking in with you again in the new year. In the meantime, take it easy!
