At Thapasya we strive to enrich the learning experience by conducting summer workshops with the most eminent Gurus from India.Thapasya hosted Guru Srikanth Natarajan for a workshop this year. He performs on stage, as an actor in the Bhagavata Mela dance drama of Melattur, Tamilnadu, and also as a dancer in the tradition of Bharathanatyam. Srikanth has trained under several illustrious Gurus, including Sri. Shanmugasundaram Pillai, Dr. Saraswati, and Dr.Padma Subrahmanyam, at whose institution he broadened his horizons in the art of Natya as expounded by Bharatha Muni. Srikanth’s training in music and inherent love for literature adds a greater depth to the artist in him and makes him a true exponent of Natya.
This summer students Nitika, Sukhi, Ananya, Neha, Arna, Neithraa, Monisha, Radha and Suma had the honour to learn from Guru Srikanth Natarajan -A dancer and nattuvanar. The 4-day intensive workshop challenged the students to learn, practice, retain and complete a choreography in under 8 hrs. It has been a truly wonderful experience working with such a professional.
