In June, we celebrated our 14th anniversary and the onset of summer by pools, with friends, and under the Strawberry Moon. We also took some time to rest and focus on our respective projects. Max is writing articles on the recent SCOTUS decisions, and Natalie did more outreach and book marketing. Update since May's Newsletter: The release date for GHOST TRAIN has been amended to October 15 due to trade review schedules. Thank you for updating your calendars! Best viewed on your Desktop. |

A Debut Author's "What?" Moment of the Month |

Publishing a book has brought funny interactions with family, friends, my publisher, and complete strangers. Each newsletter, I'll share one with you—for levity. In June, I continued pursuing endorsements for GHOST TRAIN from fellow authors. I found a few who were enthusiastic about the project and excited to read and blurb it, which I was thrilled with. One author in particular was communicative with me, and accepted the request when I asked. Later that day, I received a follow-up email from the same author. I was surprised, and opened their email, which said, "Just letting you know... the second word of your first sentence is missing." I checked my book file. It was missing. And so were about a hundred other words that had been accidentally compromised when the file was transitioned from a Word file to book design file. Needless to say, the editor is aware and a fresh version of the book is in the works. |

Max & Nat's Nit-Picks: Each Newsletter, we will feature a commonly misused word or expression and share its appropriate use. These words and expressions are inspired by real-life encounters we have had and that haunt us.
"It's crazy that I've gone my whole life without knowing this, nevertheless seeing this." Alright, at first we thought this was a one-off mistake by someone confusing "nevertheless" with "let alone." We tried to move on. But as it turns out, we have continued to see these terms mixed up, and we must address it. Nevertheless is used similarly to "regardless, anyway, as it is," etc. Let alone is used to describe an "aside" or "in addition." "I can't believe I've gone my whole life without seeing this. Nevertheless, I'm happy to know this now." "It's absurd that I went my whole life not knowing this, let alone ever shown how it works." Disclaimer: Please excuse any typos, misspellings, or grammatical errors; we understand that we avail ourselves to Muphry's Law when we nit-pick. |
