June, 2022 Newsletter

Happy June!

I'm a few days late with the newslettter this month, for a good reason. On June 1st, I turned in the manuscript of Maggie D'arcy #4 to my agent and my editor. (We're still working on titles, but you'll be the first to know when we decide on something.) It's a good feeling and I usually have a few hours of satisfaction before I start thinking of things I want to add or fix in the next round of revision! Maggie #4 will be out in June, 2023. I'll start sharing more details as we have them.

Right now though, I'm gearing up for the launch of The Drowning Sea on June 21st! You can see above that I got a box of finished, hardcover books this week. After so many months of writing and envisioning the final product, it is always a thrill to hold a book in my hands for the first time. And, it looks like I'll get to travel a little farther than my desk for the tour this time! I think virtual events are terrific for a number of reasons and I'm excited to do some this year, but I'm also looking forward to seeing readers in person for the first time in . . . a while. Check below to see if I'll be in your neck of the woods or if one of the virtual events works for you.

As always, I'm so grateful to everyone who picks up one of my books. I've been thinking a lot about word of mouth and how many of my own favorite books and series are ones that came recommended to me by friends. For example, a friend recommended Susie Steiner's Manon Bradshaw series and I have been loving those recently. If you have mystery series lovers in your life, would you be willing to tell them about the Maggie D'arcy series? I've found that I've gotten some of my most passionate readers this way. Thank you.

Leading up to June 21st, I'm posting every weekday on my author Instagram and Facebook accounts, sharing some of the Irish and American settings that inspired the books in the Maggie D'arcy series. This week is the settings in The Mountains Wild. Next week belongs to A Distant Grave, and the week of June 12th will be for The Drowning Sea. Check in at the links below to see all of the places that inspire me while I write about Maggie and her adventures.

The recipe this month is one that gets made almost every day in my household. Enjoy!

Hope to see you at an in-person or virtual event! And thank you for reading!

Sarah

Sarah's Book Tour Details

In the weeks leading up to the publication of The Drowning Sea on June 21st, I'm sharing my photographs of the Irish and American settings that have inspired the Maggie D'arcy mysteries. Travel along with me and Maggie on Facebook or Instagram.

This month's recipe is for traditional French buckwheat crêpes.

I started making them during the pandemic and now they are a morning ritual in our house, the smell of those crispy edges wafting throughout the house. I like eggs. My kids like Nutella. Try them out!
