As our busy summer days quickly turn into crisp fall days, the farmhouse continues to be a bustle of activity. We've been busy preparing for farmers markets and packing online garlic orders for shipping. Behind the scenes, Mom and Dad (pictured above) keep our order processing operation running smoothly by tracking inventory, processing orders, tagging garlic bundles, assembling and stickering boxes, and making post-office runs a few times each week. And even though it is a group effort, Mom runs a tight ship and keeps us all organized and in line. Who ever said you get to retire in retirement? As you can see, our family truly enjoys working together to bring you our garlic, and now is the peak of our season. So be sure to stock up online for all your fall and winter cooking before it's gone! | | Gourmet Heirloom Scape Powder We turned to our oven in an effort to preserve the mountain of scapes we harvested this summer. Our pure, gourmet scape powder is made from 24 varieties of heirloom garlic scapes, and it deepens the flavor of any dish it's added to. It has a mild, sweet, roasted garlic flavor that is also slightly buttery or nutty as a result of the slow drying process. We've been experimenting with this delicious spice rub all summer! It adds a hint of smoke and heat to the sweet roasted garlic scape flavor and it caramelizes on the grill or in the pan nicely. The barn is getting it's finishing touches and winter preparations have already begun because in Minnesota it's never too early to think about winter! Some new signage is going up on Hwy 5 so everyone passing by can learn about and hopefully share in the bounty of the farm. The first part of this summer's "great chicken experiment" was successful, so now, in addition to pasture-raised lamb, there is free-range chicken available, and soon fresh eggs will be on the menu too! Another Wonderful Season at Mill City Farmers Market |

We've been having a great time connecting with our community at the Mill City Farmers Market again this season! The mornings are early, but getting to share our garlic and garlic and scape products with enthusiastic foodies and market-goers, and getting to know our fellow vendors is worth it! We're hoping to attend one more market on October 14th if we don't sell out online by then. We'll keep you posted as the Minnesota Garlic Season starts to wind down! |
