"A community is the mental and spiritual condition of knowing that the place is shared, and that the people who share the place define and limit the possibilities of each other's lives. It is the knowledge that people have each other, their concern for each other, their trust in each other, the freedom with which they come and go among themselves."---Wendell Berry After spending many years in the Des Moines suburbs, Caleb and I decided to move to his hometown of Creston. We desired to raise our family near his parents and grandparents. We have no regrets. Creston has a great sense of fellowship and pride which is seen in the many volunteers who foster and develop our youth--whether it is in the form of youth sports, instrumental or vocal arts, mural mentorship programs, confidence and resiliency programs, church groups, and/or agricultural clubs. Our boys have many opportunities to interact with positive adult role models who help uncover their confidence, strength, and limitless potential. These small interactions result in big life lessons. - Jill Hoakison, PT, DPT at Greater Regional Health & Owner of Three Little Birds Marketplace |
