2022 Board Update

Our New President!

Life is full of changes and our nonprofit is no different! We are sad to say goodbye to our previous Board President Laurie Wurm and Board Member Laraine Schwartz. We will miss them dearly. They truly are people we will never forget and will always be thankful for. We wish you both good luck on your future endeavors, Laurie and Laraine!

Yet, at the same time, Family Promise of Hudson County (FPHC) is excited to move into new leadership with our new Board President, Sister Georgette Gavioli! To start this year and her presidency off right, Sister Georgette would like to say a few words:

"I am happy to accept the privilege of being the new board president. The mission of Family Promise is one I desire to work towards with enthusiasm, energy, and compassion."

That being said, let us all work just as hard as our new board president! Together WE can make a difference, so let's prove it again this upcoming year!

HPP 2022

One of our shelter diversion programs is starting anew this year! As such, we are happy to announce that we are currently accepting applications for our 2022 Homelessness Prevention Program (HPP)!

Last year, the program reached its capacity soon after it was announced, so if you or anyone you know is interested in applying don't wait! Be sure to apply as soon as you are able to have a better chance at being accepted.

You can find out more about the program and how to apply by clicking the button below!

P.S. Be sure to share the link and inform those you know about the program as soon as possible, so they can apply if needed!

Together WE Can

All of those who are experiencing homelessness deserve to get the assistance needed to get back on their feet, including those with children. However, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), some of them do not count within their definition of homeless.

Some would say, changing this definition is beyond Family Promise of Hudson County and they might be right. However, that is why it is not only us who are fighting for a better tomorrow. We are only one Affiliate of Family Promise, a national nonprofit organization. Together WE can make a difference, so why not join us in doing so? With over 200 Affiliates around the country, we can make the change needed in the world, so let's get started together!

Thank You

St. Ann's Young Adult Group!

The above photos are a before and after of a room in our new shelter location. It was in need of emergency minor renovations for the family moving in. Fortunately, St. Ann's Young Adult Group in Hoboken NJ reached out soon after, wanting to know if there was anyway they could help FPHC.

Their timing couldn't have been more perfect and they happily agreed to help out with this emergency project. Not only were they amazing themselves, but they did an amazing job! We here at FPHC are extremely thankful and appreciative of the work they have done and we know the family moving in will be too.

We needed a miracle and you appeared. We will never forget your kindness and generosity!

Marching into March:

4th Anniversary!

We hope 2022 has been going well for all of you so far and that it continues to do so! That being said, we also wish the same of the families in our care, so we are asking for your help to make that a reality.

In honor of our fourth anniversary, we are marching into March! Please join us in ensuring that the families in our care have a good year ahead. Together WE can make a difference, so let's start marching!

March into March!

Grants

(Awarded in 4th Quarter of 2021)

Alleluia Grant

The Alleluia Fund for Outreach has been assisting those in need for over a decade. With many generous donations and support, they were able to create grants totaling $155,000 to 30 nonprofits across northern New Jersey and internationally, including Family Promise of Hudson County. This grant money went into our Rapid Rehousing Program!

Thank you!

Blue Foundry Bank Grant

In November, we went to the grand opening of Blue Foundry Bank in downtown Jersey City, their first location in Hudson County. Blue Foundry Bank is a family-owned business that wanted to help the community. They contacted us and presented us with a $5,000 check to support our new Rapid Rehousing Program. Blue Foundry is a big supporter of our organization, and they even organized a school supply drive for the kids in our program earlier this year!

Thank you!

New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund Grant

Family Promise National received a grant from the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund to help efforts to prevent families with children from becoming homeless as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in New Jersey. The $250,000 donation went to multiple Family Promise Affiliates, including Family Promise of Hudson County.

Thank you!
