The team at Highlander Training Center has over 30 years of proven success at breaking and starting young Thoroughbreds – building a foundation for their successful racing careers.

Our team of three full-time trainers, led by Highlander President & Head Trainer Scooter Dodwell, possess the horsemanship skills and experience to give each individual horse the training and preparation they need for future success.Our team of full-time riders are also each exceptionally gifted in the breaking and early development of young Thoroughbreds.

For 17 years, Scooter worked with his father, Ed, breaking and training thoroughbreds at Diamond D Ranch. When Ed retired, Scooter assumed his duties as Head Trainer, which he carried out for 13 years before creating Highlander Training Center. Over the past 30 years, Scooter has produced horses that have won over 300 stakes races, including 2009 Horse of the Year, Rachael Alexandra. 

Scooter has refined his methods over the course of three decades of training and experience. Under his leadership, Highlander Training Center is accomplished in preparing young horses for the track, and forging them into champions.
