Spring is here, and with it comes the beginning of tick season. Paralysis ticks are mainly active in the hotter months, and unfortunately for us here in Queensland, the climate and environment are the perfect conditions for them. Therefore, we recommend that all pet owners buy tick preventatives to avoid endangering our animals and costing an expensive treatment bill.
One of the products that we recommend and sell here at the clinic is Bravecto. This preventative comes in both spot-on and chewable form for dogs and cats and can protect them for up to 3 months per dose. Another point to consider is that just because your pet is always at home or mostly inside doesn't mean they can't get a tick. These little bloodsuckers can hitchhike around on our native wildlife or travel in on the backs of other dogs or cats or even our clothing. So don't forget to protect your furbabies.
We also have an exciting update! As you know, at Goodna Vet, we are always looking at ways to make veterinary care more accessible for our clients and community. So we have partnered with GapOnly, which is an on-the-spot pet insurance claiming service. This pet insurance claiming experience reviews and calculates your pet insurance claim whilst you're still at the vet, allowing you to pay the difference between the invoice and the benefits under your policy. GapOnly is currently only partnered with selected insurance providers, so to check if your pet insurer is part of this exciting feature, visit gaponly.com.au.
