HELIVATE HIGHLIGHTS

MOUNTAIN FLYING
8-11 Oct 2020

Helivators embarked on the 3rd annual Mountain Flying Weekend on 8-11 October 2020.

28 Helivators and 7 aircraft flew down to Cathedral Peak Hotel in the Drakensburg.

Windy and cloudy conditions made for good training for the duration of the trip. That, a few tots of Amarula and great aviator company at the end of a long day topped it off beautifully.

HELI OLYIMPICS

Our 5th annual Helivate Heli Olympics took place on Saturday, 7 November 2020
14 Participants entered for the 3-course obstacle event. This year was taken over with majority of the participants being our recently qualified PPL pilots and boy, did they fly superbly and safely.

YEAR END SOCIAL

What a year! 2020 wasn't all bad, 2 months of downtime for the choppers and pilots wasn't fun, but we made up for it as soon as we could. It was of course necessary to end off with a gaggle of aviators as 2020 came to an end and we thought it called for a GREAT end... So we brought The Beast out to play! Students and Pilots had the opportunity to "Pilot" the controls of the Alouette III. Man, was there a lot of fun had by all, including spectators.

BLACKHORSE BREWERY FLIPS
An overcast & rainy morning didn't hold us back from taking The Beast out for all to enjoy! The weather was kind to us with a few gaps to get the helicopter fans up into the sky. Between the smell of wood fire pizza, ice-cold craft beers and the sound of the The BEAST in the background, there were happy grins on everyone's faces from the youngest to the oldest.

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS!!!
What a privilege it is to have this iconic helicopter in our Fleet. The only commercially operated Alouette III in the country. Bringing smiles to every face she comes across #TheBeast.

Alouette since 1970

ZS-RNV our Alouette III made an appearance at the Magalies Park Golf Course for the Special Forces Golf Event that took place on 20 November 2020.
52, 4 balls (208 players) took part in this day.
