For JULY 8 - JuLY 21, 2019

Oysters on the Bay starts Sunday, July 14, 4-6pm!

July is now here in full force. At long last we are feeling the sun and the heat that we have been craving for so long. We are thrilled to be welcoming back the familiar faces of longtime summer residents and meeting all the new visitors to this beautiful region. Our patio is a fantastic place to look out over the water at the iconic three churches and check out the lovely water craft dotting Mahone Bay while sipping some excellent local beer and wine and savouring the delights of our summer menu.

Starting Sunday, July 14 from 4-6pm, and running every second Sunday all summer long, we will be offering Oysters on the Bay. In partnership with Sober Island Oysters, a brand new oyster farm on the Eastern Shore, we'll be serving up these briny beauties along with cocktail specials and our regular food and drink menus. You can reserve a table for Oysters on the Bay by calling 902 531-3313. Want to know more about Sober Island Oysters? Click the link below.

Art installation!

Wednesday, July 10, 11-9pm.

The Machine

by artist Clark Biesele, both a stand alone art piece and a kinetic sculpture, “The Machine” also itself creates pieces of art.  The energy generated by all those gears, chains, and weights is transferred to two steel arms and a device that can hold up to seven ball point pens. While the piece is in motion, the ball point pens sweep over attached sheets of paper, and create intricate and fascinating wave patterns.  Clark will be on hand all day to answer your questions.  If you like, The Machine will be able to create art pieces for you to commission and take home.

Welcome Hannah!

We are pleased to welcome Hannah to our front of house family.  Hannah is originally from Halifax, but is spending the summer living in the beachy paradise of Petite Rivière.

Hannah is really into travelling, especially during the cold winter months. She says Cambodia is probably her favourite place visited so far. Not touristy and very friendly people were a couple of the reasons she liked it so much.

Hannah also tells us she really likes food that comes wrapped in a noodle or pastry. Like ravioli or dim sum. We agree!

Thanks for joining us, Hannah, we are happy to have you here.

Oysters are saltwater bivalve mollusks. They are important to the ecosystem around them, filtering pollutants and providing habitats for other species. They are incredibly nutrient dense, full of protein, minerals and omega 3 fatty acids. Besides having a reputation for being an aphrodisiac, oysters are exceptionally high in zinc, a trace mineral that plays a role in over 100 enzymatic reactions within the body. Zinc is important for skin health, healthy cell division and acts as an antioxidant, slowing the aging process. They also provide 272% of our daily vitamin B12! This helps us maintain energy levels, prevents neurodegenerative diseases, boosts our mood and protects our cardiovascular system. Oysters also provide a good source of vitamin D, our sunshine vitamin. This aids in weight management, immune function and keeping our bones strong. Come in for our bi-weekly oysters night!

Get out and enjoy the summer! Thanks again for checking out our newsletter and being a part of this community.

With kindness,
