QUOTE OF THE MONTH

“The Food Club really helps with our food budget.  We’re definitely eating better than we were before the Food Club.”  -LFC Member

ONE YEAR STRONG

October marked LFC's one year anniversary.

Over the course of our first year, several local companies have regularly donated much needed food products for Lakeshore Food Club families. Our appreciation is extended to:

Big Apple Bagels

Gourmet Mushrooms

McBritton Farms

Lake Michigan Carferry – S S Badger

Christofferson Farms

Little Red Organics

Many thanks to all of our MANY local partners who keep the shelves stocked!

GROW A ROW TAKES ROOT

LFC's first annual Grow A Row campaign garnered a HUGE response from the community and surrounding area. Local gardeners and farmers were encouraged to share the bounty with our Food Club families. As of early November, more than 7,000 pounds of produce has been collected! Big thanks to our green-thumbed supporters for cultivating a giving spirit, and special thanks to the Mason County Garden Club for partnering in this success!

GROCERY STORE PARTNERS

Lakeshore Food Club is honored to work with our area grocers to raise community awareness around hunger relief. Earlier this month LFC partnered with Shop-N-Save for our Feed A Family campaign. Customers were able to add $5 or more to their grocery bill. All donations were used to purchase food for the LFC shelves through Shop-N-Save.

Last month LFC was a beneficiary of Meijer's Simply Give program.

Thank you to these community-minded retailers for supporting LFC's mission.

LOWE'S HEROES

Many thanks to Laura Thompson, Mike Negele and the entire team at our Ludington Lowe's Home Improvement. Through the Lowe's Heroes program, the Food Club recently received 10 new shelving units to help organize the stockroom! These shelves will help keep inventory organized, maximize our limited space AND reduce lifting injuries. Thank you Lowe's!

Reading & Recycling with Jacquie

Meet Jacquie Gerould.  LFC volunteers see Jacquie in the afternoons on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at special events.  She volunteers to assist members directly and helps in other important ways.

Jacquie is our recycle guru.  She takes all the accumulated plastic to Walmart and Meijer to recycle.  Jacquie is also the Food Club liaison with Power!
