Notes from Community Council Meeting 10/1/2024

Cincinnati Police Dept - Officer Martin

Reviewed Pleasant Ridge crime stats. Officer Martin acknowledged the car break-in that happened at St. Peter's early this summer. While the number of auto thefts are down in general, all vehicle owners are encouraged to ensure nothing valuable is left in vehicles at any time.

Cincinnati Fire Dept

With the elevated storm activity in our area, please be cautious with fallen or damaged electrical wires - they may still have a charge. Please call the Fire Dept. if you see wires down. If you are in need of a smoke detector, they have a small number available and can come install it for you. Apply here, while supplies last.

Cincinnati Recreation Center - Kendell Bobo

CRC partnered with Keep Cincinnati Beautiful and Gorilla Glue on 10/9 to make playground improvements, clean up the landscaping, and paint a mural! They also planted 16 trees!

Look at their great work here!

DOTE - Ridge Avenue Renovation & Repairs for 2025

Brad Johnson from the Dept. of Transportation and Engineering (DOTE), discussed plans for the upcoming project which will consist of grinding down and replacing the pavement on Ridge Avenue, adding new pavement markings and signage, improving the railroad crossing near Acomb Ave, and constructing a missing sidewalk by the Enterprise frontage. The construction will start at Marburg Ave and continue up into Amberley Village. The funding for the $5.9M project comes partially from the DOTE rehab program and 2 additional grants contingent upon a 3 lane configuration from Acomb Ave to CRC for safety improvements.

To view DOTE's full presentation click here.

The three proposed segments of the project:

  1. Acomb Ave (Railroad) to Woodford (CRC): In an effort to decrease rear end traffic accidents in this section, the city is envisioning a 3 lane system (two opposing-traffic lanes plus a center turn lane).

  2.  Woodford to Montgomery: DOTE plans to collect traffic data for this area during peak times and will model these intersections for safety and efficiency. No concrete plans have been decided yet.

  3.  North of Montgomery: TBD - 6 potential options were presented. To vote for your favorite, please take our Ridge Avenue Survey.
