MARCH 2024 Updates from STUDIO HROMI

Hello newsletter recipients! Happy spring (and false spring, and second winter, and all the other unpredictable weather events we've experienced in my part of the world).

My birthday is in a few days. The past three birthdays have felt important (the final year of my 20s, turning 30, 31 being my Golden Birthday) so the number 32 seems very generic to me. But when I turned 27, a friend of mine pointed out some interesting things about the number 27 (it's 3^3, it's one more than the alphabet, and it's Weird Al's favorite number) so I thought I would do something similar for 32: 32 is 2^5, it's the freezing point of water in degrees Fahrenheit, and it's the number of a full set of adult human teeth. Maybe not so generic after all...?

For a few years I had a brief tradition of doing a self portrait in honor of my birthday, so perhaps that is something that I will do again this weekend.

PRODUCT FEATURE: NEW "PLACES IN GR" PRINTS

Lately I've been adding more of my favorite local businesses to the "Places We Have Loved" series, which features iconic places in Grand Rapids. Most recently, I illustrated Cherie Inn and The Pyramid Scheme, both of which have prints available for purchase.

Did you know I take requests for this series? Fill out the survey here.

You still have just over a month to see three of my original analog collages (Aluminum, Charmed, and It's All You Need) on display in the "I Heart Recycled Art" exhibition taking place at ArtRat Gallery and Cocoon Art Space in Grand Rapids. Drop by and see the exhibition until April 28th at any time during both of the galleries' open hours.

My market calendar for spring and summer will soon start to fill up. See studiohromi.com/events for the full schedule and details about where/when I'll be selling my goods in person. You can also shop anytime online at studiohromi.com/shop and Redbubble, and while supplies last at Scorpion Hearts Club and the GRPM Curiosity Shop in Grand Rapids, and Half Mile Handmade in Bay City.
