This high fasion company wanted their brand inclusive and innovative and embarked on a journey to make their retail experience inclusive for all.
First and foremost, they wanted Deaf Awareness Training for their retail staff. The goal? To create a truly embracing brand experience.
That's where we come in...
After we first engaged, it was approached that having a deaf retail assistant would be a first and a groundbreaking move in high fashion.
The brand were unsure if this would work as face-to-face discussions with clients was a must.
We explained Access to Work to them, the use of British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters to support the retail assistant to learn their practice and procedures and allow discussion with high end clients.
They were keen to see if this could work!
We set up a video advert for the brand in BSL to find a deaf person interested in high fashion.
We gained 5 applicants and 2 candidates progressed to the next stage after initial interviews.
Bridging gaps
We encouraged the brand to offer store tours to access to the working environment and ensure Deaf candidates felt welcome.
Prior to this, their high fashion stores were not seen as accessible to Deaf individuals.
The store team were deaf awareness trained and we started work.
We suggested a mobile phone for texting information if their interpreter was not with them to ease any frustrations.
WhatsApp was set up and the Deaf sales assistant could now share updates and engage with clients effectively.
Success achieved
The campaign culminated in the hiring of a talented Deaf sales assistant.
The high fashion brand's commitment to inclusivity and innovation made history in high fashion.
