Note from the Director by Patricia Cream One year after COVID-19 began in New Mexico, our community has met with some overwhelming COVID-19 statistics, but The Gallery ABQ has remained open for most of the year. The Gallery has had its own uncertainties with staying open, but we have been blessed with good health and a safe place to sell our artwork. We continue to have good sales every month, and we are seeing new people visiting the Gallery each week. We are excited that Bernalillo County has remained in the yellow zone under the NM Department of Health (DOH) guidelines and are hopeful that we will move into the green category soon. Just as a reminder, The Gallery ABQ has earned the NM Safe Certification, and we are following the NM guidelines for the COVID Safe Practices. Visitors are required to wear masks, and to be socially distanced. April Salon Show: The guest artist salon reception will be on April 2nd, 5:00–8:00 p.m. This month the Gallery will have eleven local New Mexico Plein-Air Artists. Plein-air means painting outdoors. This method contrasts with studio painting or academic rules that might create a predetermined look. Many plein-air artists start and finish a painting outdoors. However, there are times when the artist takes pictures of the landscape or sketches in where the colors and shadowing should be, to be completed at his/her studio. On March 21, 2021, The Gallery presented a donation check to New Mexico BioPark Society (NMBPS) in the amount of $1451.00. Rich Grainger, Development Director, came to the Gallery for the short presentation. This check was from the January salon show and sales for “In Memoriam, The Nature Photography of Jeremy Stein” and we continued to display his prints through February. Since Jeremy’s family donated his artwork to the Gallery, we have decided to use the photographs for other collaborations within the community. We will let you all know when the next sale of Jeremy’s photography will be on display. In the meantime, you can still purchase prints of Jeremy’s art at our website: www.thegalleryabq.com. Monies that we receive, less our normal commission, will be put in a fund for the next donation. We wish to thank Nancy Norem and Jeremy’s daughter for their kind donation of Jeremy’s photography. We will continue to honor him by giving to the community he loved. |

Make arrangements to pick up your online purchase and meet the artist! By Mellie Myer Remember that if you are local or are visiting Albuquerque in the near future, you can pick up your Gallery ABQ Online Store purchases without being charged shipping or handling. Our artists are still practicing safe COVID protocols, so there can be little or no interaction with the artists who are in the gallery at the time of your pickup. You can even contact your favorite artist through the online store and arrange to meet the artist and view the art, either on the day(s) the artist is working or at another agreed upon time. After you view the art in the online gallery, you can interact by email with the artist with questions about the artwork or technique and about the artist’s other work that may be for sale in the gallery. Of course, the art in the online store can also be shipped to the purchasing customer, and shipping prices are calculated at the time of purchase. We still have our Jeremy Stein photography Store at www.thegalleryabq.com. This store is in addition to Gallery ABQ’s online store for the gallery artists. You can shop for matted prints of Jeremy’s beautiful landscape, wildlife, and flora photographic prints that are 11”x14” or 16”x20”. You can have them mailed to you for an additional cost or pick them up at the gallery during business hours for free. There are also discounts on some of the paintings and art glass, so take a look! |
