Hope Village Update Dear Friends and Supporters, We are thrilled to bring you the latest update on the progress of Hope Village, our ambitious project to create a sustainable and supportive community for those in need. Over the past few months, we have made significant strides despite some challenges along the way. Here are the highlights!
Project Progress: Hope Village is progressing steadily, thanks to your unwavering support and dedication. We are pleased to announce that we have successfully met with the city planning and urban development departments to amend the property zoning for our project. Originally planned across 12 lots, we have now streamlined our vision to encompass one lot. This will accommodate 18 tiny homes and include space for a much-needed donation and community center. The next step involves submitting an administrative amendment for approval. Following this, the proposal will undergo a public hearing at the city council. We are optimistic about the outcome, as we have received overwhelming support from all city council members and the mayor. Their enthusiasm for our project has been truly heartening.
Community Engagement: Your involvement has been crucial in shaping the vision of Hope Village. We continue to welcome your ideas, feedback, and support as we navigate through the administrative process. Your voices strengthen our cause and reinforce the importance of creating a caring and inclusive community.
Project Highlight: Tecumseh Prison Visit We recently toured Tecumseh Prison and met with construction students and instructors who will be pivotal in building the framework of our tiny homes. Their excitement to be part of this pioneering initiative in Lincoln was palpable, and they asked insightful questions about our vision and goals. Looking Ahead: Once we receive formal approval from the city council, we will proceed swiftly with the construction phase. Our team is ready and eager to bring Hope Village to life, providing a safe and supportive environment for those in need. We anticipate breaking ground soon after approval and will keep you updated every step of the way.
What I’ve Learned: Patience, perseverance, and purposefulness have been essential traits that I've cultivated and refined over the past seven years while developing Hope Village. Like those serving time, I've learned to keep my focus on the goal, despite the challenges and skepticism encountered from those who may not fully grasp the purpose of a tiny home village.
Get Involved: There are many ways to support Hope Village. Whether through donations, volunteering your time and skills, or spreading the word, every contribution makes a significant impact. Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter future for our community. Thank you for your continued dedication and belief in the vision of Hope Village. We look forward to sharing more exciting updates with you soon. Warm regards,
Rhonda Mattingly Executive Director
