I think the heat has finally gotten to me, and it's affecting my brain. I've temporarily (I hope) lost my creativity, and I don't know what to write! My eyes keep drifting to Crystal Rassi's painting above, reminding me of the amazing afternoon at Quartz Lake I had on my day off yesterday. We had the lake to ourselves for nearly four hours. Every now and then, there was a little breeze and some cloud cover, and the water was the perfect temperature for swimming. I felt lucky to spend a wonderfully relaxing afternoon enjoying summer activities! Alright, back to business. First things first, I'll be making a fresh batch of "Utrechtse Sprits" cookies tonight. I started selling these cookies a few weeks ago. They are a traditional Dutch treat loved since the sixteenth century. "Utrecht" is the province in the Netherlands that has adopted this version of shortbread as their signature cookie. "Sprits" refers to the process of piping the dough in long strips. Yum! They are sooo good! |

Coming up soon is Michele Doucette's solo exhibit "Soulful Wonders of the Wild," and it's going to be spectacular. There will be an opportunity to meet Michele at the opening reception on Saturday, July 27, between 4 and 6 pm. I'm always looking forward to seeing Michele, and I'm also excited to welcome back our talented local Jazz trio, "the d'linquint!" Theresa, Brian, and Chad will be delighting us with live music during the reception. I hope to see you in the relatively cool (temperature wise) gallery soon. Slow Down and Stay Cool! |
