"Spreading the Good News of Christ"

What We’re Up To

Friend, October was truly a blessing! A full preaching schedule allowed me to rest in full assurance of our Lord's calling into evangelism. I am deeply thankful for the many opportunities to preach at various churches and events across North Alabama!

Your encouragement toward me and the ministry God has bestowed upon me is incredible! As with any call of God, there are both joys and heartaches which parallel with this ministry. However, the Lord's provision sustains me in this wondrous work, and I rest in His promises as I journey to different churches each Sunday to preach. Although we sometimes grow weary, the joy gained from these meetings is immeasurable as I reflect on what God is doing through His Word in His churches!

Departing from a comfortable ministry setting to one of uncertainty requires a step of faith. I am considered "full-time" in evangelism, and my bills are paid simply by the Lord's provision through the churches of which I am invited to preach. I, in no way or desire, manipulate or encourage the offering. I firmly believe that if the Lord calls me to preach at a particular church, my responsibility is to joyfully accept the invitation and await the Lord's provision. I can enthusiastically say that I have yet to miss a meal, default on a payment, or have the need to request financial assistance. I have several who generously donate to my ministry, and I am thankful for these wonderful and encouraging saints who willfully entrust me with a portion of their possessions to further the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

My goal is to be completely transparent with those who support and encourage my ministry. I desire not to hide any information from any individual concerned as to where our finances are going. Those who fund my ministry are reserved the right to know where their financial contributions go. This month, I signed a check for $1,000.00 to G.R.A.C.E Ministries (Guatemala Relief And Compassion Effort). This ministry serves impoverished children and their families in Guatemala by providing education, nutrition, health care, and spiritual care that breaks the cycle of both physical and spiritual poverty.

The financial contribution presented from our ministry to them is for a selection of Christmas food baskets for forty pastors and their families. The cost is twenty five dollars each, rounding up to a total of $1,000.00. In every country there sits a discouraged pastor. Yet, although discouraged, they must be reminded that their ministry is vital to the Kingdom of God. Without these wonderful men of God, the people of Guatemala would have less hope of hearing a transforming Gospel. If you know my heart, you know I share a burden for pastors. Last month, I was presented with a sizeable donation. I felt the obligation to present it to the pastors of Guatemala, that we might encourage them to keep the faith during such difficulties facing our world today. I am thankful the Lord presented such an opportunity for us to cheerfully give!

On December 1st-8th, I will be making a trip to visit with some of these pastors in Guatemala. Partnering with G.R.A.C.E ministries during these few days, our Goal is: to manufacture 15 houses for impoverished families, provide a Christmas supper for the students of Colegio JET and their families (approximately five hundred and fifty folks). Present Christmas food baskets to the families of Colegio JET (125 families). Provide one thousand Christmas gifts (toys) for the students of Colegio JET. Present Christmas food baskets for forty pastors and their families. And present Christmas food baskets for forty widows. I am looking forward to a wonderful trip as we pour out God's love to the people of Guatemala, share the Gospel with them, and inform them of a Christ who came into this world to seek, save, and love them!

Finally, if you would like for me to preach in your church, I have one Sunday morning and a couple of Sunday nights open for the month of November. It would be a privilege to serve your church in the area of evangelism.

Yours in Christ,

SBM Philosophy

Preaching

The messages I preach will be those which the Lord impresses upon my heart, convicts my spirit, and assures me of its appropriate setting. All messages will derive themselves primarily from the authoritative Word of God and will always uphold God’s Word in a positive and holy light. As is the case of most evangelists, these messages will likely be repeated, but never will they lose the emphasis or authority of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I will not brow beat or degrade the congregation in any way, but rather allow the Holy Spirit to convict and encourage the hearts of the congregation in the method He sees fit.

Invitation

Each time I preach, an invitation will always be extended to whomever wishes to come. In no way will the invitation be forced or emotionally manipulative, but rather making room for God’s Spirit to stir in the hearts of those experiencing conviction. Whether the decision be concerning salvation, joining the church, or another decision, the invitation will be extended clearly, concisely, and courteously.

My Visit

Pastor, I am coming to your church as your guest. Therefore it is my desire to help you or your congregation in any area which might assist in the meeting. I give myself to your service and will do what you desire in the area of visitation.

Offering

Under no circumstances will the offering be promoted or manipulated by me or anyone associated with our ministry. I do not require funds to accept an invitation, but the sincere pastor who invites and uses an itinerant evangelist will recognize the necessities of this calling and will lead the church to present a worthy offering. If the Lord has impressed upon your heart to extend an invitation to me, then I believe He will also speak to your heart about what I need to continue this ministry.

Pastor

Pastor, it is my sincere desire to help you as a pastor. One does not spend time in the pastorate without knowing the various joys and difficulties of this calling. Know that I support your ministry, will honor and exalt your ministry before the church, and in no way do I wish to harm you, your ministry, or your congregation during my visit with your church.

Target

My target in any meeting I am invited to assist in is simple. My innermost desire is to see lost souls experience the transforming power of Jesus Christ, encourage and equip the current members of the body of Christ, and to proclaim the call of repentance, return, and restoration with God through renewal and revival. Know that my heart is concerned more about those in the congregation than of my personal ministry. In all meetings I target to exalt God and His Word in all ways.
