Charter for Change

Following a succesful launch at the International Association on Workplace Bullying and Harassment conference in April, we are now delighted to announce the launch of the new

Conduct Change Charter

As you know, at Conduct Change we are pioneering the prevention of Workplace Bullying. We have brought our expertise together and developed the 3R’s model of Dynamic Conduct Change.

We are now looking to partner with courageous organisations who are ready to lead the way in this area of cultural change.

As organisations are prioritising employee Diversity and Inclusion, Mental Health and Wellbeing and Psychological Safety in the workplace, many will be looking for practical support to lead behavioural change at all levels that creates positive lasting impact and helps the post pandemic recovery. At Conduct Change we believe that preventing Workplace Bullying must be part of the conversation. All means of promoting constructive and inclusive change will be undermined unless the undesirable and ineffective behaviours that constitute bullying in the workplace are successfully challenged.

The Conduct Change Charter is a programme of behavioural change that is rooted in the prevention of workplace bullying. The Charter embeds agreed behaviours and culture across all parts of the organisation and, most importantly, ensures that these are regularly measured, reviewed and acted on, creating dynamic conduct change.

The programme has been designed by academics and experts whose work focuses on prevention and resolution of workplace bullying, and building psychological safety in organisations and behavioural change indicators that relate to creativity, innovation and competitiveness.

We are recruiting organisations to join a pilot 12-month programme to help them develop behavioural standards, frameworks and interventions that support healthy, productive relationships between individuals and organisations. Working with the client project owner, the programme will be delivered collaboratively with Conduct Change practitioners, academics and advisors. An organisation-wide, cross-department, multi-strategy approach is essential for this work to be effective: it must be sponsored and promoted at C-suite / Director level.

Each participating organisation of the 2021 pilot will:

  • become a signatory of the Charter which can be used and recognised as part of an organisational employee value proposition

  • be supported to implement and embed the 3Rs Model of Dynamic Conduct Change

  • be aided in developing a bespoke toolkit, with access to support tools, resources and templates

  • benefit from receiving and providing peer support from other organisations

  • be invited to contribute their results and findings of the programme to advance academic research

  • be invited to be recognised as a sponsor and to speak at the annual United Against Workplace Bullying Conference

The programme not only supports organisations to meet the moral and business-critical requirement to take action to prevent bullying in the workplace, but also supports organisations looking to become part of a community of upstanding employers committed to leading change.

If you would like to be a pioneer in this area of change, we would love to hear from you to tell you more about the pilot programme and the reduced fees and additional benefits available for businesses signing up by June.

As a result of the interest we've already received, we're inviting you to join us on Thursday 20 May at 4pm BST to hear from Nicki Eyre and Professor Emeritus Charlotte Rayner as they explain how the Conduct Change Charter programme of behavioural change rooted in the prevention of workplace bullying could work for your organisation.

Conduct Change Statement of Intent

Our mission is to end workplace bullying through the development of meaningful prevention activities for organisations and the implementation of effective routes to redress for individuals.

We aim to achieve this by raising awareness and seeking formal recognition of workplace bullying as a problem that injures individuals and damages organisations. We will work with employers and employees, offering preventative training programmes and packages of advice and support.

The law does not provide sufficient protection or redress for people whose employers let bullying go unchecked, making the process of seeking legal remedy in these cases unduly complex and arduous. We will work with lawyers and legislators to identify and close the gaps in legislation.

Workplace bullying is a problem that calls for collective action, beginning with courageous and open conversations about the impact of bullying on both individuals and organisations. We will work with and support organisations with this common purpose at heart, and we call on business leaders to engage with us to create safer working environments for everyone.
