LONG LIVE THE QUEEN! Mary Higgins Clark, the Queen of Suspense was a grand old gal! She sadly passed away recently at 92. At lunch in Palm Beach one time with Mary and her writer daughter, Carol: Carol whispers to me: "Here's the problem. Whenever I do a signing for one of my books, people come up and say, Wait a minute! You're not the right one!" Rest in peace, your Majesty! |

A SPLENDID FELLOW My friend Clive Cussler has passed away. We shared an agent for many years and he was kind enough to write a blurb for my first Alex Hawke book, HAWKE. He loved cars and has a major collection. Here I am with my collection. Small collection, but I think Mr. C. would have approved my choice! He was a splendid fellow with a huge gift for storytelling and he will be missed. "Raise the Titanic!" what a story. I always thought that that title along with Jaws and Bonfire of the Vanities were inspired. RIP, sir. You were an inspiration. |

BIG LIGHTS, BIG CITY! New York's Times Square. Yours truly. WARRIORS, the 8th book in the Hawke series. What more can I say? If you'll kindly forgive the appearance of our immodesty, we believe our new "show" DRAGONFIRE, is going to be the hottest ticket in town (and beyond) come July 21st. Hey, Hamilton! Eat your heart out! |

HAWKE: Where the Adventure Began Lord Alexander Hawke is a direct descendant if the legendary English pirate Blackhawke and highly skilled in the cutthroat's deadly ways himself. While still a boy, on a voyage to the Caribbean, Alex Hawke witnesses an act of unspeakable horror. Hidden in a secret compartment on his father's yacht, Alex sees his parents brutally murdered by three modern-day pirates. It is an event that will haunt him for the remainder of his life. Now, fully grown and one of England's most decorated naval heroes, Hawke is back in the same Caribbean waters on a secret mission for the American government. A highly experimental stealth submarine, build by the Soviets just before the end of the Cold War, is missing. She carries forty nuclear warheads and is believed to be in the hands of a very unstable government just ninety miles from the American mainland. Hawke is in a race against time. His mission: Find the deadly sub before a preemptive strike can be launched against the U.S., and confront the murderous men behind a personal nightmare that haunts him before they find him first. | | |
