In the Sun and in the Rain

August 2024 Newsletter      sophiakouidougiles.com

Dear Friends,

I’m thrilled to reconnect with all of you after my unforgettable trip to Greece!

The highlight of my journey to Thessaloniki was the completion and launch of my Greek translation of An Unexpected Ally/Μια Απρόσμενη Σύμμαχος, published by A. Germanos. The process of getting the books ready was smooth and immensely enjoyable, thanks to in-person meetings with Mr. Andreas (pictured to the right) at his charming bookstore, READ, located just behind St. Sophia's Church.

Seeing the beautifully designed book cover by Mr. Panos Karayiannis was a special moment I’ll cherish forever. The launch event on July 12, 2024, was a magical evening filled with wonderful collaborations and heartfelt connections. My dear friends, Nora Kazazi and Theopi Parisaki, who I’ve known since grade school, delivered inspiring speeches.

My wonderful friend, Karina Ioannidou, introduced me to the stunning cafe located within the Royal Theater of Northern Greece. The breathtaking views of Thessaloniki Bay, the iconic White Tower, and the lush greenery surrounding the area added a touch of enchantment to the event. Karina also connected me with talented actresses Nelly Deli and Christine Zaharopoulou, whose announcements and recitations added order and inspiration to the proceedings (pictured below).

The cherry on top was the presence of George Fanouropoulos, whose warm voice and guitar strumming to familiar songs had everyone humming along. The event was an unforgettable experience for me, filled with fun, seriousness, and entertainment, made even more special by the presence of my family, schoolmates, and friends who came to celebrate the occasion.

I want to extend a public thank you to everyone who contributed to making this evening so memorable. And to those who purchased my book, An Unexpected Ally/Μια Απρόσμενη Σύμμαχος. Here is a wonderful early review posted about it.

I was captivated from the first paragraph. She took me on a magical journey!

I admired the way she wrote it, the sophisticated language she used!

I saw in front of me images with festive colors and I smell the aromas.

Through the fascinating story of Circe, the talents, emotions and skills of feminine nature are extolled.

The primary virtue of female solidarity is revealed. The book conveys messages that everyone can interpret in their own different way.

But it certainly assures us that a female has the power to do miracles when she decides to.

Nora Kazazi, Author of The Colors of My Soul.
