Alison Spaven

 Exciting News

"Exciting news at The Wytchwood Gallery and Studios, as member Alison Spaven prepares for a move to bigger premises!  She's not moving too far, just round the corner - but there will be an upstairs workroom where she will be offering classes and workshops, and there is  also room for  a guest artist every couple of months. Watch this space!"

Maggie Smales

Taming of The Shrew

Member Maggie Smales recently directed The Taming of The Shrew production for York Shakespeare Project. Utilising her textile skills Maggie's design for the set included 30 metres of painted and stitched drops for a Japanese Kabuki effect and an upholstered stage plinth. The show was a huge success but Maggie will now be focussing her attention on smaller pieces of textile work that will fit through her machine without it being a feat of wrestling!

Angela Anning

In the studio

Member Angela Anning is making two hanging lamp shades for a commission. The buyer was offered samples based on his ideas for shades for his refurbished house. He selected these two. Angela is working on the first one. The shades are made from calico painted with fabric paints and Inktense blocks. They are embellished with machine embroidery to add texture. The final versions of shades are created using Dannells lampshade making kits.
