Dear subscribers,

I hope this message finds you well and filled with the same sense of gratitude and inspiration that I'm experiencing after the recent Silver Sirens inaugural event in Perth. Last month, I had the honour of being a speaker at a remarkable gathering, where I had the opportunity to share my journey of overcoming fear in open water swimming.

The event was nothing short of incredible, with a sold-out audience of 100 attendees who showed up eager to learn and grow. I was deeply moved by the presence of each and every person in that room, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to them.

I also want to extend my sincere appreciation to the inspiring guest speakers who graced the stage alongside me. Their stories and insights added immeasurable value to the event, and I feel privileged to have shared the platform with such remarkable individuals.

One of the most humbling experiences for me was the outpouring of support and encouragement from attendees who approached me after my talk. It was incredibly touching to hear how my journey resonated with so many of them and how it inspired them to embrace their own fears and pursue their dreams.

I'll be honest – stepping onto that stage, I couldn't help but grapple with a bit of imposter syndrome. Who was I, a 50-year-old woman, to speak about “Never being too late” to pursue your passions to an audience of women who are older and wiser than me? But as the event unfolded and I saw the impact of my words, I realised that age is just a number, and our stories have the power to transcend any barriers or doubts we may face.

In the aftermath of the event, I've had some time to reflect, and I can say with certainty that I feel fulfilled in my mission. Sharing my story with the audience, and knowing that it resonated with many, has validated that this is where I'm meant to be – empowering and inspiring others to embrace their inner strength and courage.

Thank you to Faith Agugu, founder of Silver Sirens, who made this event possible – from the Silver Sirens team and to the attendees – their presence and support mean more to me than words can express.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Dr Vanessa Atienza-Hipolito FRANZCR

As we continue to journey together, I am honoured to share with you some reflections from my recent 50th milestone celebration. This significant occasion provided me with an opportunity to pause, reflect, and appreciate the lessons I've learned along the way, particularly from my self-leadership framework.

At the heart of my self-leadership journey lies the realisation that I am the director of my own life. Taking ownership of my decisions, setting clear goals, and aligning my actions with my values have empowered me to chart a course that reflects my true aspirations.

Embracing reinvention as a constant process has been instrumental in my personal and professional growth. Letting go of old patterns and embracing change with courage and resilience have opened doors to new opportunities and experiences.

Celebrating victories, no matter how small, has been a source of inspiration and motivation on my journey. Each accomplishment serves as a reminder of the progress made and fuels my determination to pursue my goals with unwavering determination.

Cultivating a mindset of appreciation and gratitude has enriched my life in countless ways. Taking time to acknowledge the abundance in my life and express gratitude for the blessings received has deepened my sense of fulfilment and connection with others.

Learning to set boundaries and prioritise my well-being has been a valuable lesson in self-care. Saying no to commitments that do not align with my values or detract from my goals has allowed me to focus my energy on what truly matters.

Guarding my energy and investing it wisely has been crucial in maintaining balance and resilience. By identifying and mitigating energy drains, I have been able to sustain my passion and enthusiasm for my endeavours.

Embracing the principles of servant leadership has transformed my approach to leadership. Prioritising the needs of others, fostering a culture of collaboration and empowerment, and leading by example have been foundational in building a thriving and supportive community.

Cultivating self-love and acceptance has been a journey of profound self-discovery and growth. Treating myself with kindness and compassion, practising self-care, and prioritising my well-being have nurtured a deeper sense of self-awareness and fulfilment.

Ultimately, taking action is the cornerstone of self-leadership. By embracing challenges as opportunities for growth and taking bold steps towards my goals, I have been able to manifest my vision and create a life filled with purpose and meaning.

As I reflect on these lessons, I am filled with gratitude for the journey thus far and inspired by the possibilities that lie ahead. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey, and I look forward to continuing to grow and learn together.

Top 3 Lessons that I learned from my

Busselton Jetty Swim experience! 🤩

1️⃣ Preparation is Key: Starting early and committing to consistent training laid the foundation for success.

2️⃣ Community and Support: The support of my swim buddies was instrumental in keeping me motivated and pushing me to new heights. Surrounding yourself with a supportive network can make all the difference in achieving your goals.

3️⃣ Mental Resilience: Endurance events like the Busselton Jetty Swim are as much mental as they are physical. Building mental resilience and pushing through moments of doubt or fatigue were crucial for success.

In the heart of Murdoch, amidst the buzz of anticipation, our Women's and Breast Imaging centre opening marked the beginning of a new chapter. It was more than just unveiling a new facility; it was witnessing a vision coming to life, a dream taking shape.

As we reflect on the progress made, we're reminded of the power of perseverance and passion. Every step forward, every challenge overcome, brought us closer to our goal of enhancing healthcare accessibility and empowering our community.

Join us on this exhilarating ride as we continue to push boundaries and break barriers. Together, let's pave the way for a brighter, healthier future!
