Shake off the winter chills with Beanstack's Winter Reading Challenge! This year's theme, "All the Feels," is open to all ages from December 12 through January 31. Help us read at least 2 million minutes as we compete for cash prizes! It's easy! Just sign up online or at any YCL branch and track your reading time using your Beanstack account.
After logging 5 hours, stop by any YCL location by January 31 to pick up a prize, while supplies last. For every 5 hours logged, readers will be entered to win a Totally Cool Grand Prize! Origami Holidays Recycle old Christmas cards and learn how to fold origami at the same time! We’ll make beautiful boxes to use as gifts or tabletop decorations, and also create ornaments for trees, presents, or greeting cards. For adults and children ages 8 and up. Holiday Wrapping Party Can't find the space to hide all your gift-wrapping shenanigans? We've got you covered! Wrapping services can be provided, including gift bags of all sizes, wrapping paper, bows, gift tags, and other materials. Register online or call 803-684-3751. Winter Wonder Lab* Kick off the Winter Reading Challenge with a wonderful time of giddy goodness and festive fun, as we gasp and laugh at the Mad Scientist’s exciting, merry science experiments! Through a mix of science and magic, you'll see a playing card vanish, only to reappear neatly gift-wrapped, and a mysterious North Pole rock that turns out to be dry ice! Get Your Holiday Holds with 24-Hour Pickup! |

The library may be closed for the holidays, but our Library Lockers provide convenient, 24/7 access to your favorite reads! Simply place a hold on your items, choose a locker pickup location, and wait to be notified when your items are ready. Then, just visit your designated Library Locker and scan your library card or enter the barcode number to retrieve your materials! For more details, see Library Lockers. Happy Holiday Reading! |

YCL Food Drive: During the month of December, all YCL locations will accept donations of nonperishable food and canned goods. Donations will benefit local area charities within the community they are donated. And don't forget our furry friends — we'll also be collecting pet food donations! Mitten Trees: Help decorate our mitten trees and warm the hearts of those in need with your gifts of new gloves, hats, scarves, and mittens at participating YCL locations through December 31. All donations will be sent to York County shelters. |

Blessing Boxes: Looking for other ways to help? Please remember the Blessing Boxes at our libraries in Rock Hill, Clover, Lake Wylie, and York. Drop off your donations of canned food, bottle water, small snacks, and other nonperishable food items throughout the holidays and beyond. |

Readers will find fiction and non-fiction eBooks in English and Spanish for Pre-K – Grade 4 level students, with auto-play and read-aloud features for young learners. York County Library Hours & Closing Notices All Locations: Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Main Library (Rock Hill), Fort Mill, & Lake Wylie: Saturday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. Clover & York: Saturday, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Christmas: All York County Library locations will close at 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, and remain closed through Monday, December 26. New Year's: All York County Library locations be closed Saturday, December 31, through Monday, January 2, for New Year's. Friends Books on Main will close at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 24, for Christmas Eve. Through December 18, store hours will be expanded for the holidays! Stop by 206 E. Main St. in Old Town Rock Hill, Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. and Sundays from 12:30–4 p.m.
*During our holiday closings, the book drops at our Rock Hill and Clover locations will be closed; only the book drops at our Fort Mill, Lake Wylie, and York Libraries will remain open for returning library materials.
