Fall 2022 Newsletter

#CommunityIsHealing

Fall has been a busy time for our organization and it's all good things! We've hosted Courage Club and Fitness Force events, met with sponsors and community supporters, planned collaborative events for the future, granted financial assistance to local young adults impacted by cancer, and more! Your support makes it all possible. Read on to see what we've been up to and what we have planned as we approach a very busy but exciting season!

COURAGE CLUB

Courage Club met in September at Buff City Soap to make our own bath bombs and in October, we carved pumpkins.

November has 2 Courage Club events. We will meet as a whole group at the Colorectal Cancer Alliance's Walk to End Colorectal Cancer on James Island November 19th. We're so excited to put a face to young adult cancer and raise awareness for a disease that we are finding increasingly younger onset. The Boon Project is a sponsor of the event.

Our younger Boonies will also meet for an "Under 30" gathering on November 30th at Edmunds Oast. Details for both events are in our Facebook group or email Katherine at katherine@boonproject.org. As always, Courage Club is FREE for young adult cancer patients and survivors.

Fitness Force!

We had a couple of wonderful workouts this fall! We returned to Fly High Bungee in Mt. Pleasant for our September Workout.

In October we met at Club Pilates for our first Pilates class as a group. They rolled out the red carpet for us and did a wonderful job helping our survivors find their fit.

November's Fitness Force event is blended with Courage Club. We will be walking at the Colorectal Cancer Alliance Walk to End Colorectal Cancer on November 19th. We hope you join us there!

Check out details in our Facebook group if you'd like to attend as a survivor or supporter!

THANK YOU!

Throughout the month of October, several local businesses raised funds for The Boon Project as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. While our organization serves men and woman diagnosed with ANY type of cancer, a large number of our "Boonies" are breast cancer survivors and patients as breast cancer is one of the more commonly found cancers in young adults. We are so grateful to the following organizations for their fundraisers and donations this month that will help serve local young adults diagnosed with cancer. We hope you'll show your appreciation to these business as well!

Buff City Soaps, Mt. Pleasant

Our 2023 Class of Boon Project Community Ambassadors is off and running! Please welcome Emily, Jackson, Khalia, and Torie. These four young people will help raise awareness for the unique challenges facing young adults diagnosed with cancer. This caring and enthusiastic group is a blend of caregivers, advocates, and survivors all looking to be a BOON!
