Fairy Creek Update Despite the recent and applauded ruling by BC Supreme Court Justice Thompson to deny Teal-Jones' request to extend the injunction of Fairy Creek based on the unlawful behaviour of the RCMP, the company immediately filed an expedited appeal requesting that the current injunction order remain in place until the appeal has been heard. In the meantime, trees are still falling, arrests are still happening, and forest defenders continue to do all they can peacefully. Science has proven that the health & integrity of temperate ancient rainforests directly mitigates climate change. It is our vital responsibility both to the province and globally to support protection of old growth forests. The BC government has committed to implement a new way of managing forests based on conserving biodiversity as a primary goal over economic extractions. We have to hold the government accountable for implementing this new policy. DONATE to directly support: - Legal funding for Indigenous land defenders and forest protector allies who were arrested on the frontlines of this campaign.
- Legal initiatives such as appealing the injunction, preventing an extension of the injunction, and further challenges be revealed in the coming weeks.
CALL YOUR MLA This is a key moment to pressure NDP MLAs to implement the Strategic Review and to stop old-growth logging now. Download this letter with talking points. |

The Return to Eldership Saturday, October 9th, Noon PST at Fairy Creek 24hr Sit-in with Bill Jones and other Indigenous elders and singers Submitted by the Fairy Creek Blockade Each weekend, at the Return to Eldership, Indigenous elders from surrounding territories come in support to share their voice and to bring back the justice of natural law. Unite with Elder Bill Jones and friends this weekend for song, ceremony and words of wisdom rooted in connection to the earth. The teachings that are shared illuminate what true stewardship of the land looks like. The wisdom connects us to the earth and that all life is equal to us.
Since the Injunction has been lifted Indigenous and non-Indigenous land defenders have been re-building camps and sacred ceremonial sites. Red dress and the four directional circles in the gravel pit have been reassembled and a ceremony has taken place to honor these powerful prayerful circles. We are calling all land defenders to come spend some time with us this weekend in the trees and at camp. This week after the ceremony we will clean up all the debris from the destruction by the RCMP of the past camps.
Police presence currently is low and industry is still cutting the trees and devastating the ecosystem. Come this weekend or come for the week. Bring food, water, and anything else you may need. Put Fairy Creek Blockade HQ into Google maps to easily locate the roadside meeting spot at noon. |

10 Actions to Confront the Climate Emergency We are facing an urgent climate and biodiversity crisis. The provincial government’s CleanBC climate action plan is insufficient to limit warming to 1.5°C and will not keep British Columbians safe from the worst impacts of climate change. Residents are being urged to encourage the BC government to develop and implement a transformative climate emergency plan that recognizes the interconnected climate, ecological, and social crises; embeds equity, anti-racism, and social justice at its core; and upholds Indigenous Title and Rights, and Treaty Rights. To implement the rapid systemic change that is required, we must call on the provincial government to demonstrate the leadership necessary to confront the climate emergency, and immediately undertake the following 10 actions: |
