Venue Update and Community Q&A Event
Thank you for your patience as we investigated all aspects of the venue. After more than a month of meetings with council, the real estate agent, landlords and the Association Board, it has come to light that the proposed site (The Freemasons Hall, Third Ave Caloundra) will not meet the needs of the school.
Finding the right venue to support the Steiner curriculum and that creates the optimal learning environment for your children is our first priority, and our biggest challenge in opening the school.
We had our hearts set on the Freemasons Hall due to its central location, proximity to bush-land and capacity to grow with the school over the first few years of operation. However, as there are roadworks proposed for Third Ave, that include a significant resumption of the hall’s land (due to commence in January 2023) - this site will not be able to provide the warm, nurturing environment we are seeking.
Because of this, we regret to inform you that we won’t be able to open the school in 2020.
Understandably this news may come as a shock and we acknowledge the inconvenience this new development may cause for your family.
We were hoping for the best outcome and have much of the groundwork ready for the moment we do find a suitable permanent or temporary venue.
What now?
This new development in our initiative allows the association more time and freedom to reflect and redirect our energies into solidifying our foundations as a business, organisation and community.
We can concentrate on community relationships, fund-raising events and Anthroposophical offerings to strengthen and build the Steiner community, while we continue our search to find the optimum location for our school.
To initiate our new focus, the Association Board will be hosting a community information evening on - Tuesday, 12 November 6pm in the C.C.S.A. Hall, Caloundra.
This evening will be in the form of a Q&A between our community, special guests and the Association.
We have a few questions we’d like to pose to the community. This will help us direct our focus, building this community-based initiative to meet the needs of our families and members.
For a well-rounded discussion we also have special guests attending who can answer questions you may have about the Steiner pedagogy and its underpinning philosophy, how your child might transition from state or Australian curricula and scope of Anthroposophy within the family.
Our special guests are:
Chis Jack, Chair, Steiner Education Australia and Principal, Birali Steiner School.
Francis Klugman, Principal, Noosa Pengari Steiner School.
Amber Liddle, Anthroposophical nurse who ran a children’s wellness clinic in New Zealand.
We are really looking forward to coming together as a community to hear your views and share information.
