I just returned from Sayulita, Mexico, a wonderful town on the Pacific Ocean. We didn't go a day without seeing at least one Iguana, and often we counted a half dozen or so in a single tree. I enjoyed slowing down, iguana-like, and not worrying about much more than eating and sunning myself. Being surrounded by family made it extra special. |

Now that I'm back, it's time to get excited about the year to come. Portrait of Deception comes out in just over two weeks! It was my critique partners' favorite novel, and I hope you enjoy it as much as they did. The novel definitely ratchets up the suspense and action. It also has one of my favorite openings: "Margo McAllister had promised herself her photographs would change the world. That dream would come true in a mere fourteen hours. Just a few shutter clicks away." Portrait of Deception is now available for preorder and publishes on January 18. If you're looking for an exciting book to start the new year, this is it. |

In addition to the new book, I hope 2024 brings more interactions with readers. I love the feedback I get from this newsletter. I'm also looking forward to visiting more book clubs this year. If your book club is reading any of my books this year, I'd be happy to join by Zoom (or in person if you're in Southern California or El Paso). Just email me at kathryn@kathryndodson.com or reply to this email. Speaking of hearing from you, I'd love to hear what you're most excited about in 2024. If you've got my favorite answer - I'll send you a signed copy of Portrait of Deception. Just respond to this email. |
