HERE IS A SCANA UPDATE
Scottsdale Coalition for Airplane Noise Abatement
FAA STEP TWO WORKSHOPS ANNOUNCED
As mandated by the Federal Court when the FAA lost the lawsuit regarding westbound departures from Sky Harbor Airport, the FAA must conduct public outreach meetings with other communities in the Phoenix metro area. One of he purposes is to receive input on flight paths and issues affecting other locations. The workshops will be held in the February / March time frame. No locations or exact dates have been announced. SCANA will post that information when it becomes available. It will be important for residents to attend the meetings, submit comments and voice their concerns. Here is part of the announcement from the FAA:
"Three public workshops will be held to provide information on Step 1 performance, provide an overview of comments collected during the initial public workshops regarding Step 2, and collect additional comments for consideration with regard to potential future actions. Any such future action would be solely at the FAA's discretion."
The FAA will need to hear from you!!

NATIONAL UPDATE
On September 22nd the Senate passed the final version of the FAA Reauthorization Bill. Cities, grass root coalitions, those opposing the NextGen intrusive flight paths and SCANA hoped the Bill would contain amendments to address the issues that NextGen created. While the Bill does contain provisions to help communities address future FAA flight path changes, it does nothing to require the FAA to address existing NextGen changes that have caused disruptions to Scottsdale and other communities across the Nation. The battle against the NextGen flight paths will continue.
LEGAL ACTION TAKING PLACE
A group of Southern California communities have filed lawsuits against the FAA due to the NextGen flight paths arbitrarily placed over their residents and the FAA's refusal to negotiate changes. SCANA will keep you posted as these events unfold.
FILE A NOISE COMPLAINT AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN!
While it may feel mundane to continue to file noise complaints with Sky Harbor, it is important that complaint statistics show continued resident opposition to the NextGen flight paths. Just go to https://www.planenoise.com/copad/q3qH4u/ to fill in a form to log a complaint. No log in is required and it only takes a minute!
WHY DO YOU NOITICE AIRPLANE NOISE?
Do you ever wonder why you notice the NextGen flights roaring overhead but your neighbor does not? Look for a future SCANA email update that will explain how our brains react to certain noises.
