Buzz #38 - The Qbn Hive News

Queanbeyan's Festival of Bees

Entry: Gold coin

Live music, pop-up gallery, stalls, workshops & kids activities

Queanbeyan's Festival of Bees at The Queanbeyan Hive is focused on all things bees, beekeeping and biodiversity. It offers a fun program full of workshops, art and music.

There’s something for the whole family - from learning how to plant a bee-friendly garden, attending a cooking lesson for a delicious Russian honey cake and activities for the kids.

Environmental conservation group ACT for Bees will run a plant stall, teach bee education and host a workshop on making a bee hotel for your garden.

Come along and join the fun at the workshops, enjoy some food and drinks, and ‘waggle dance’ to live music by some amazing local bands.

Possum skin cloak-blanket stories: darning & yarning with Aunty Matilda House

Gathering, making and yarning are key practices that uphold First Nations' values of sharing stories, building connections, healing and community care. With a focus on possum skin cloak making, this practical workshop with Aunty Matilda House will prioritise the sharing of culturally-significant knowledge and skills. You will be able create your own possum skin art piece expressing your own story and help create a cloak-blanket depicting Queanbeyan's Heritage.

If you cannot do the cloak-blanket workshop you can purchase a 'tour' ticket to came and watch the process with an opportunity to paint your own story on a piece of possum skin.

$30 Workshop (9.30-4.30pm)
$5 Tour participation (1hr)
