Newsletter - 006

Winter is coming and Hjørundfjorden is getting ready.

Sailors and skiers.

We have a dream today. We have a dream that one day every valley and hillside of Sunnmøre shall be exalted, every hill and mountain shall be skied, the rough places will be sailed, and the crooked places will be skied straight, and the glory of ski and sail with Jolly Good Times Sailing and Guide Romsdal shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

Martin L. King Jr. Was one of the most prominent leaders in the civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968.

Now, what is actually civil rights today?

That's a too big of a question for this newsletter, BUT the UN has some ideas.

Goal nmbr 3 - Secure good health and life quality for all and all ages

Eating healthy, smiling to each other, creating memories, and getting to know others and yourself a tiny bit more in brand new environments, is pretty darn healthy. Standing on top of a mountain after hours of meditative uphill skiing, feeling proud of your effort no matter what it is, is a fundament of life quality. You are good :)

Goal nmbr 11 - Sustainable communities

The communities today are something else than back in the days.

Villages with two inhabitants (and a bar), derelict farms, few places to work, the waterways are hardly in use, and the current population is around 900 in oppose to 1820 in 1959.

What happened to the people? Let`s bring'em back together.

Ski and sail with us are not just us.

To complete your experience, we are depending on 6 other small and local businesses. They are providing the service you don't think about, they hunt and collect the food you like to eat after skiing, and last but not least, they want you to be there.

Hjørundfjorden is a pearl and needs to be kept that way. Kept free from the huge ships and masses, and collaboration in our micro level is key for the sustainability of these tiny local communities. And for smalltimers like us, its the same, we don't do this for money, we need money to do this.

Have a look at some more pictures from last season

It was such a great time.

We have three departures up and coming for 2023 and currently lots of loose ends since last Newsletter so secure your space today:

  1. 5th March to 9th March

Early March is for the ones that find it exiting with burning sunrises and sunsets in the same trip. The snow in early march is generally very good.

  2. 9th March to 13th March

It's getting lighter every day and it might as well dump serious amounts of snow on a short time.

  3. 2nd April to 6th April

    Easter, the national favourite.

So there's ONLY 16 lucky skiers in 2023 on this fantastic combo with Guide Romsdal and Jolly Good Times Sailing

Make sure to reserve your space, these tickets are smoking.
