JUNE NEWS

Hello KPC Members and Supporters,

Welcome to our June Newsletter, half a year has already passed and we have already achieved so much. It was an eventful month for us with lots of highlights. We were part of the Refugee Festival where we brought all our amazing community members together to celebrate culture, stories and diversity.

Our kitchen is almost fixed and ready to be used to the fullest. We are excited to see what the food team can do!

There are more interesting activities coming from our Local Place Plan Team Because We Say So! and more.

We are looking forward to July!

The KPC Team

🙌 Thank you Johnny! 🙌

Our Community Food Worker Johnny is leaving us next week and we wanted to take this time to thank him for his hard work and dedication. Johnny started during the pandemic on our A-OK project helping with emergency food provisions and then went on to become our Community Response Worker helping our community with emergency needs.

We want to wish him all the best on

his new journey!

🤗 Our new sign is up! 🤗

Our brand new sign is finally installed and looks amazing in the sunshine.
Thank you
GlobelBros for painting the sign for us.

Thanks to Joe and Simon for not only installing our sign but fixing our kitchen ceiling so we can get cooking!

🎉 Refugee Festival event – a joyful celebration! 🎉

We were so excited to welcome everyone for a big celebration on Saturday 18th June!
Never Give Up: Coming Together in Celebration of Our Stories was part of the Refugee Festival Scotland 2022 programme, and our community members cooked up a storm!

As well as sharing delicious dishes from Afghanistan, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Nigeria, they also had a presentation, showcased beautiful dances, exhibited artwork, and finished everything off with an Ethiopian coffee ceremony.

Thank you everyone who made the event happen, and everyone who joined us on the day!

The atmosphere was a very joyful one, and we received a lot of positive feedback from everyone who came along.

We look forward to supporting our community members to take a lead on more exciting activities and events in the future, so watch this space!

🥣 Community Kitchen successes  🥣

This month we’ve been continuing our weekly Thursday evening community meals. We are very pleased to announce that since reopening we have served over 650 meals.

Volunteers have donated over 200 hours of their time helping at the meals, we are very grateful for everyone's continued support especially whilst they worked with limited access to the kitchen.
