NEXT MEETING We will be meeting Tuesday, April 20th, 180 (6:00) at Lazy Dog restaurant in Allen. 1851 N Central Expy Allen, TX 750013. It has been a log time since we had one of our social meetings. We would like to try to get back to having these about once per quarter. They are a great time for Marines, Corpsmen, and family and friends to get together and share in camaraderie, instead of just conducting business every meeting. Come out and join us and meet some of our members. This is a great chance to sit and talk with some of the members and see what the League is all about. Associate Members We cherish the input and contributions of our Associate Members. This are members of the community who were not Marines or FMF Corpsmen, but who are interested in our mission and serving along side of us to make a difference in the community we serve. There are very few things that Associate Members can not do in the Marine Corps League. Associate Members can serve in certain officer roles, on committees, have a voice in what we are doing. If you are interest in joining the ranks of the Marine Corps League as an Associate Member just attend a meeting or email us for more information: Admin@CollinMCL.org |

The Marine Corps League, LCpl Jacob D Hayes Scholarships are here! We are proud to finally be announcing our three scholarships, each for $1500. Thank you to our Scholarship Committee for all the hard work you put in and to our generous donors who have made this possible. The following is a brief description of each scholarship; what they are designated for and who is eligible. It took us a while to hammer out the details for each scholarship, so our time is limited to get them out to the public, schools, and promote them to deserving students. We need your help. PFC Hanse Mason Hamilton Scholarship: Hanse Mason Hamilton served during World War II and was injured during the Battle of Iwo Jima. After being discharged from the Marine Corps Hanse came home to Texas where he furthered his education at SMU and went on to work for the IRS. This scholarship is designated for high school seniors who are members of the Allen and McKinney High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps. The applicants do not need to have any family relationship connecting them to the Marine Corps or planning in anyway to be join the Marine Corps upon completion of school. Our goal is to support the local JROTC programs and the caliber of cadets they produce, by providing those cadets with a scholarship which we hope will enable them to continue their education and become future leaders. Please click the link below for more information. LCpl Jacob D. Hayes Scholarship: Jacob Hayes returned home after being medically discharged from the Marine Corps, he planned to continue to serve through becoming a fire fighter. Jacob had already trained as an EMT before being deployed to Iraq, and registered to attend the Collin College Fire academy. His parents received is letter of acceptance the day after his passing. Jacob's family had started a scholarship in his name to assist those wishing to attend the Collin College Fire Academy. The Marine Corps League asked to take over and continue a scholarship in Jacob's name with service in mind. This scholarship is designated for any Marines, FMF Corpsmen, FMF Chaplains and their families to be able to attend the programs at Collin College with service as a first responder in mind - Fire Academy, Police Academy, or Department of Medical Services (EMT and Paramedic courses) Sgt Johnny Robertson Scholarship Johnny Robertson was a Vietnam era Marine who served as Supervisor of Computer Operation on Okinawa, Japan. After being Honorably discharged from the Marine Corps, Johnny returned to Texas, earned his degree and went to work for TXU. Johnny also served the community as a Reserve Collin County Deputy Sheriff. The scholarship in Sgt Robertson's name is designated to any Marines.
