June Newsletter

Hello Subscriber, welcome to the June edition.

I don't know about you but the month of June went by quickly for me. Between work and blog posts, there isn't a lot of time left for much else. People assume that work from home means you have a lot of time, but I find that I go from bed to desk with no official lunch hour and very little time for much-needed exercise.

Enough about me, how have you been? Write back and let me know how you have been managing under the current circumstances, what you have been reading or working on (that relates to my work, obviously), and what you would love to see me write (or talk) about.

My friends have been doing some work that I think I should mention.

Learning Machine Learning

My friend Aniedi Udo-Obong has been on a quest to master Machine Learning. He recently started a periodic online series where he discusses various topics. I got featured in the first edition.

Watch it here.

Easy Kubernetes Development

My friend Chuka Ofili explains how you can use Skaffold to start multiple services on a Kubernetes cluster.

Access it here.

Machine Learning

One new article related to Machine Learning was published on the blog for this month.

Linear Regression with scikit-learn

The first article illustrates the process of training a simple Linear Regression model using the popular scikit-learn library. It uses the example of predicting housing prices.

I started working on a new project which I call the Data Faculty. The goal is to actually teach various topics related to Data Science and Data Engineering. What is the difference between blogging and teaching? The former is more passive, while the latter is active. The learners will need to interact with the content by answering quizzes and questions.

Working with Data in Python

The June Edition of this free eBook covers working with TXT, CSV, and JSON data from python, all tasks that are common in almost every Data Science project..

The most popular question I have had to deal with is "How do I learn Machine Learning?" I decided to go beyond blogging about it by publishing a free course that introduces you to Linear Regression, a popular ML algorithm, without involving you in mathematics. What's more, I also made the decision to use a desktop visualization tool called Tableau for visualization. This serves to simplify the learning process by minimizing the amount of python code that you need to write. The course is scheduled to go live in August, but you should sign up now.
