Dear friends,
After performing two fantastic concerts this summer in the Portuguese Synagogue in Amsterdam and at the festival Rencontres musicales de Champéry in Switzerland, we enjoyed a wonderful holiday and have been busy rehearsing and performing again, completely re-energised!
We’ve already given our first (private) performance in which we played the European première of two pieces by the composer Belinda Reynolds, and last Monday we presented ourselves at the Kamermuziekdag in Utrecht where we connected with programmers, fellow musicians, impresarios, and composers. It was an amazing day and a great way to start off the new season full of of new ideas, impressions and inspiration!
We would like to share another wonderful review of our After the Darkness CD which we recently discovered on the internet, this time from Gramophone.
Here are quotes from the review:
'The Hague Trio’s accounts of Klein’s Trio, Krása’s Passacaglia and Fugue and Tanec ….. are nothing if not competitive with the best of their rivals. Their ensemble is as tight as their collective intonation is sure, and they bring a keen expressivity to these scores written under appalling conditions.… a thought-provoking programme, captured in first-rate sound.'

And here is the latest information about our upcoming concerts in October and November.
On Saturday, 5 October we will be playing at the annual memorial service of the Oranjehotel in Scheveningen. The ‘Oranjehotel’ was the nickname for the prison where the Germans detained over 25,000 people for interrogation and prosecution during the Second World War. We have taken part in the memorial service many times before and it's always incredibly special to be able to contribute to this moment of remembrance. This year is the first time it will take place in the newly opened National Monument Oranjehotel; a memorial centre which recently opened in September with a permanent exhibition which can be visited all year round.
The memorial service is by invitation only. https://www.oranjehotel.org/en/discover/memorial/
Later the same day, we will perform the programme Mozart and his contemporaries in the concert series of the K & O, Katwijk. Come and listen to beautiful oboe quartets by Johann Christian Bach, František Vincenc Kramář, Christian Cannabich and, of course, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

And we’ve already reached November!
At 3 p.m. Sunday, 3 November we will perform in the chamber music series of Pauline Oostenrijk in the Synagogue in Delft. The concert will be a combination of music and reading by Pauline Broekema, author of the book Het uiterste der zee, the book that is based on the family history of Sara Kirby-Nieweg, Miriam’s mother. We will be playing music from After the Darkness and Pauline Broekema will be talking about and reading from her book.
