Hello wonderful people! We are still in business and yes, we did not send out a January newsletter, so you haven't missed anything. We took a break to recharge and plan for the year 2024. From now on, we won't send out the newsletter on the last day of the month, but we will make sure to send it out every month or two. This newsletter contains a summary of the publications we shared on our website during our break. We also recommend some books, some of which are on sale, some for review, and some for free. Check them out below! We will send out another newsletter over the weekend, sharing our plans for 2024. Thank you for being a part of our journey and for reading our newsletters! |

How Much Vengeance Is Enough? a Poem by Mark D. StuckyHow much bloody carnage and rubble is required to atone for sins of a few? How many eyes must be gouged to extract desired justice? If wronged, is exchanging one eye enough? What about two eyes for one? Or ten for one? Is twenty enough? How about a hundred? |

Whys and Wherefores, a Short Story by William CassLuis returned my gaze, nodding slowly. "Other than my cholesterol thing," he said, "which you've got fixed okay now, I'm in pretty good health, so I figure I might be a fit enough donor candidate. I live alone, don't have any family counting on me. |

The Owl, a Poem by Tasneem HossainI fly in the vast blue sky, flying around seven continents and seven seas; staying awake when the world sleeps. There is hunger, there is greed; Corruption and disease; Grieving animals and humans are in need, Inside their hearts they all bleed; Animal and humans suffer in pain from changing conditions, that happen for selfish reasons to gain. |

ReciproCity, Non-fiction by Angela TownsendGet me out of the City. I have been here so long, I scramble myself. I have watercolored the smog and believed it beautiful. I have dripped in furs of indignation that are useless against the cold. I have convinced myself I've caught the last train to the garden, free at last. |

Hallowed Ground, a Poem by Pat AnthonyToday a smoky haze hangs over the trees drapes the fields Wildfires from Canada dropping down on the wind and I think again of Maui Lahaina where ash sifts on the wind tiny bones gone to ground so that the whole is a cemetery of the unknowns still searched for how to ever build again to walk this ground where souls have vanished to heal the gaping wounds gone black with despair even as sun rises and ground cools |

Where There's Smoke, a Poem by Donna PuccianiA sky bathed in haze veils the prairies, bringing another day of whitish-grey over corn and soybeans and the skyscrapers of Chicago. We lost the blue weeks ago in a morning's harried glance. Primary pollutants, they say, creep down in the thickness of cloud from Canada's wildfires, their path subject to the whims of the wind. |

She Lifts Her Burka, a Prose Poem by Alicia Viguer-EspertI wonder how tough this young Kabul woman has it. This woman who shows me her lovely fifteen-year-old face, polished nails bright red, and the green eyes of a 1985 National Geographic cover. A youth already betrothed to a man three times her age, a friend of her father's, luckily with only one wife, she whispers. |

Becoming Untouchable, a Prose Poem by Marcia W. Mount ShoopBecoming untouchable takes time. Start young. Instill quiet oppression. Reinforce the stakes, ignore the quakes, the terror. Regular injections of shame, frequent threats by name. Don't forget to eat the blame. Violence brazen and hushed, forceful when pushed. Manipulate naked truth, expectations diluted, and grief stifled, rifled, and mocked. |
