CONTINUING AHEAD...

If you ask someone connected to Haiti what the situation is like in the country, you're probably going to get a lot of different answers. In Port-au-Prince, the insecurity continues to rise and complications seem to be different at every corner. But if you talk to someone that lives or works in the north, they're most likely going to say things are great and they aren't facing any problems. Then there are the areas that are in between - they are safe, but still feel the affects of the turmoil in Port-au-Prince. Our community is one of those "in between" areas. Things seem to be operating as normal as possible, but life is still difficult because of how much the country is centralized around Port-au-Prince. So, when we get asked how things are in Haiti, it's hard to give a direct answer. We're thankful our schools are open, our businesses are operating and our Parishioners are safe, but there is still the potential for the country to shutdown at any moment. It is still difficult to find some necessities and transportation can be dangerous, but it has definitely improved from what it was several months ago. Having these periods of normalcy gives us hope for the future of Haiti, but we know that a lot has to be done in order for Haiti to make substantial progress towards finding stability. We appreciate all of you that have patiently supported us during these unknown times. We are looking forward to the day we get to be reunited with our community in person, but until then, we are continuing our operations on the ground in Haiti and connecting with our community leaders virtually to serve their needs.

The Tennessee Register recently published an article highlighting our organization and how we, and other Twin Parishes, have overcome obstacles despite the chaos that has been unfolding in Haiti. We encourage you to check it out and share it with your family and friends!

IN LIGHT OF THE DEVASTATING SITUATION THAT OCCURRED IN OUR NASHVILLE COMMUNITY THIS PAST WEEK AND THE HURT AROUND THE WORLD, WE WOULD LIKE TO OFFER UP A PRAYER NOT ONLY FOR HAITI THIS MONTH, BUT FOR THE WORLD:

God,

We pray that we can see Your light amongst the dark tragedies of today's world. We trust that You will not let the darkness overcome. We pray that those suffering most can feel your presence and healing touch. Be near us, Lord. We mourn with the communities around the world that are facing troubling times, but we mourn with hope.

AMEN
