Charity Quilts In September our Guild turned in donated quilts with an In Kind value of $1360.00. Four (4) quilts went to Peaceful Paths ($200.00), four (4) quilts to Ronald McDonald House ($230.00) and 11 were delivered to NewboRN, Well Florida Council ($330.00). We donated a twin size quilt to Catholic Charities ($600.00) for their annual October fundraiser. The quilt top was made by Sylvia Andres, a neighbor of Donna York, Jan Fenniman donated the quilting, and I pieced the backing and finished with binding, For those interested in get involved in our Charity Committee, we meet on the 3rd Monday of each month at the Senior Center, 5701 NW 34th Blvd, Gainesville 32653, 10 AM to 2 PM. Bring a bag lunch and an extension cord if you are bringing a sewing machine. You can work on a charity project of your own design or you can pick up a kit, that includes pattern, fabric, and batting, and label. At our July or August regular meeting there was a discussion about the Guild supporting the Fort White Community Thrift Shop, by donating some of our unneeded, but in good working order household goods or clean clothing for their inventory. Are you interested? They support us quarterly with a check that helps us buy batting, fabric for our labels, plus some fabric. I will deliver donations to Fort White if you bring them to our October meeting. We have moved our display for the month of October to the Cone Branch of the Alachua County Library, if you live in East Gainesville check it out. It has been a busy summer, looking forward to some cooler temps, how about you? See you soon, Sharon Anyone with questions or in need of a project quilt kit, please let me know.
