We Are Spreading Nationally We started this website because of Covid-19, which caused shut downs all over our country and the world. We thought that rather than just sit back and accept it, we decided to broaden our efforts. So, on October 5th, 2020, we launched our website. We are very happy with the results so far. Our sales for 2020 exceeded our 2019 sales which included the Art Festival and Soup Event. Our total sales for 2020 amounted to $10,150, which 100% was passed on to NWAFB. In November we decided to start shipping outside the local area and in January 2021 we decided to not charge for shipping. The check out and shipping charges were confusing, so we decided to charge $25 each for all bowls not just some. We then offer a 10% discount for those that pickup their bowl purchase. So far we have shipped to 26 different cities in 14 different States. We are the only Empty Bowls Organization that is selling bowls online and shipping them around the USA.. |

We Are Evolving We are evolving from a website that was started to simply sell our bowls and benifit food banks. We are turning into an informational site that will help educate our visitors as to the hunger anf food insecurity that so many in our country and the world face. Our region is a small piece of the world crises, and our battle here is well worth the effort. We are having results and we are making a difference. We also want to help those that visit our website find information regarding both receiving help and also giving help. We strongly advocate volunteerism. We have added a page that lists food banks and pantries in the six county region around us. In Arkansas, the counties of Benton, Carroll, Madison and Washington. In Missori the counties of Barry and McDonald. |

Cookbook Page Added We have added a Cookbook page where you can find updates on its publication. We are planning an April publication. You will find an Advance Order Form there that allows you to order the cookbook by March 31st for a $5 discount. An ebook is included in the price of the cookbook, so in effect you are getting two books for the price of one. At the time of publishing this Newsletter, we have received 50% of our goal of 150 soup recipes. We already have 76 recipes from people that want to "share the love" and help us in any way that they can in the struggle against food insecurity. If you would like to contribute a secret family soup recipe please do so. We love some of the human interest stories that accompany them. You may either email the recipe, information and story directly to me. An alternative, if computer entry doesn't scare you, you may enter the recipe directly into the website set up by the publisher for us: The website is - typensave.com The username is - bceb The password is - spoon155 |

Launching a Blog We are launchng on Sunday February 7th. It will be called Sunday Soup With Phil. There will be weekly updates that will keep people informed abour BCEB. The Blog will have a coversational theme to it, as if Phil was sitting down with a friend or neighbor to discuss the soup that he is preparing that Sunday and any helpful information that readers have requested. Phil is going to prepare a different soup each Sunday from recipes drawn at random from the Cookbook. It will be interesting, especialy if he gets one that has lima beans in it, he really doesn't care for lima beans and he promises to prepare all recipes as written. |
