We hope every household is coping well during these unpresented times and miss those of you we've not seen in person since the spring.

What We’re Up To

Just because we've left the YMCA temporarily, that doesn't mean our passion for learning and teaching has ended.  For months we streamed exclusively  online. Completed awesome challenges to keep fit and connected.  Sometime in July we moved operations to Reiter Park, 301 W Warren Ave, Longwood and have been simultaneously streaming live-classes two nights per week.  We'd like to share some of our highlights of Taekwon-Do Training in the Park with this newsletter.

What does social distance training look like?

Despite no self-defense, no sparring, no partnering, we laugh, work-out hard, enjoy breathtaking views and wide-spread grassy areas as well as covered areas and just simply never stop learning and connecting on a very human level.

If anyone gets too close or takes too long of a break, Mr. D, our most senior assistant instructor and head of our disciplinary committee, will chase down students (with wooden practice sword overhead) to get back into their socially-distanced training areas!

Pictured here are Ms. Renee and Mr. Alan performing step-sparring - social distance style.  At the park  1/2 the participants attack while the other 1/2 defend, yet not a single punch is physically blocked by anyone - no contact!

Promotional gradings are still being conducted, some online, some in person.  Congratulations to our most recent students who have successfully advanced to their next level in their martial arts journey:

Caleigh, Green; Sophie, High Green; Nathaniel High Blue, Zoe, Laila and Riley, Red!  Pictured here are Sara and Maryam who achieved Green and Blue back in April along with several others.

Reiter Park is absolutely stunning!  Saturdays from 11:45am to 1pm, when we are not live-streaming, we take full advantage of its pictorial backdrops, hills, stages, fields and pathways by strategically incorporated the park's hard and soft landscape into our outdoor training.

Let us not forget it was only August that we gained five new black belts, two adult and three juniors.  Class feels different...it is exhilarating, more motivational, with additional black belts in attendance. Congratulations again to our new ITF Black Belts!

YMCA Status Update: The director finally reached out this past week to inform they are going to allow group sessions to resume in the near future.  There is a catch, the facility closes at 7pm.  When we return, whether it be for one night or two, it will have to come with a class time change.  Perhaps 5:45pm to 7pm, and only on a Tues or Thurs night.  Please text Master G at 321-230-6657 with your thoughts regarding such a change.  Our "Reiter Park Crew" wishes to remain in the park, training outdoors in our safe environment as long as possible.  We will absolutely keep training in the park on Saturdays. What lies ahead remains unknown.  We'd like to hear from you.  Thank you in advance for your input.
